Catching sablefish is not that fun.  Picture enough lead to get down 1200 feet and then a fish that fights like a walleye.

Huh, I just drove to a parking lot and only had to move them about 40' to my truck.  I found it rather pleasant although it was raining.

Much better use of time!  Plus you don't have to make the 2 hour run out to 1200' of water.

Hey fellas, thanks for all the kind words and support on this group buy.  I really dig the feedback, recipies, and pictures of the dishes you guys make.  Gives me inspiration to try a new way to cook up my own fish - I can get stuck in a rut with cooking fish.

I'm up in AK right now, working on the boat and winter king fishing when weather allows. I'm getting a fair amount of interest in doing another buy before I dissapear for the summer season, and I still have some chum to get out to a few of you. King crab and scallops are sold out - we're gonna have to wait until next fall for those again - but I think I'll still have the rest of the product available. If it looks possible, I'll post up a new group buy thread.

Thanks again for the support, and keep those pics of dishes coming!  :EAT:

Sweet!
Be safe up there.
We are already about 75% through  my last order, so I'll most likely be in for the next group buy.

My crab is long gone, still have prawns, scallops, and tuna. Trying to ration them somewhat.

Finally got into some prawns yesterday. Simply sauteed in butter and fresh garlic, and they were absolutely fantastic. And don't let the shells and roe go to waste. The roe is SO good, and look at the color of that stock. You won't get that from QFC.
Thanks Skillet!

What do you do with the roe and shell stock?

What do you do with the roe and shell stock?

The roe we just snacked on with a little pinch of salt. Texture of the eggs (tobiko?) you get with sushi, and tastes like the sea.
The stock I'll use to make a cioppino or seafood stew of some sort.

Yum.
Try squishing the roe juice into your garlic butter mix next time.

That's what I typically do.

I hit the stock, shells and all, with the stick blender, then strained out the solids. It's got some serious flavor. Just wish I had the heads too!

I made crab and spots last night... also made a ton of stock... it is pretty amazing flavor-wise but yes I missed the heads!

I made a full pack of scallops over the weekend.

Rookie mistake.

They all got eaten... but yes, it took 3 meals to do it  :chuckle:
