the only solution is solar power , look it up

I did look it up and you are 100% correct. Of course, we await technological developments to more fully harness solar but here are the facts:

Only a tiny proportion of the sun's energy reaches us, yet it amounts to 3,766,800 exajoules of energy each year (an exajoule is a billion billion joules.....and a joule is a unit of energy in the metric system).

ALL the world's plants capture only about 3000 of these solar exajoules through the process of photosynthesis.

ALL human activities and industries put together consume about 500 exajoules annually, equivalent to the amount of energy earth receives from the sun in just 90 minutes.

Look up what it takes to store solar power, and how many barrels of oil it takes to make batterys that will store solar power. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Here just watch this.

Maybe Stossel should have interviewed Scotland about how they get 98% of their electricity from windpower with no batteries.  Several countries in Europe and New Zealand are over 40% and the US is over 20% and climbing every day.

Saying the wind doesn't always blow is like saying you can't drill for oil in every back yard.  His viewpoint of what is currently happening, much less what the future holds is very ignorant.

I'm sure you can find a similar paper from some guy long ago about how oil will never replace the good old horse and blubber industry.

I went to Denmark quite often for work and I believe they are near self sufficient energywise and if I recall, about half comes from wind.

Scotland and Denmark are barely the size of our smallest states. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
When we talk about battery, how do you think electric cars work. Where do you think those battery packs come from.
Let's put it this way,If everybody bought an electric car today.
And plugged in to charge ,can you say rolling black out.
Let's not even talk about the price per kilowatt.
I agree that video is a year old and not spot on with numbers ,but no way is our power grid up to the future .

That's exactly why significant money is being proposed to upgrade the electrical grid.

If we can dig a barrel of oil out of the ground in the middle east, move it to the coast, put it on a ship, cross the ocean and then use it we can certainly move electrons around in our own country.

What would happen if everyone went to the gas station right now and filled up every vehicle?  The gas infrastructure would crash.  It's an argument with no point like saying you can power a house in one country on renewables but not a house in the US.  There are numerous facts in the video blatantly wrong.

Regarding cost, wind energy fully loaded rates in the US are 3.9 cents per kWhr.  Natural gas costs 6.5 cents now and coal is 9.5 cents.

The largest wind power state right now is Texas, that should say something.

I think, with enough wind mills, a vast amount of Montana could power the entire planet.  There's spots I don't like as the wind drives you nuts after awhile.

Ya I agree it's not a bad thing,it's just gonna take a while to get self efficiency.

As stated......"we await technological developments." Another source is harnessing tidal action but I'm afraid that will mess up someone's fishing along the coast, which was the start of this discussion.

I will agree that the fishing is better when the water is lower. Helps concentrate the fish a bit more. I was there last week for a day and a half with my brother and son. It was COLD!! But we were layered up and as long as we kept the wind off the skin it was very pleasant. Fire was good to warm the hand after catching a fish and baiting the hook.
We ended up with 12 real nice trout. Four that went 18”+ got the smoker running tonight 👍🏽

well hell with the stupid sh*t but i'm a big enough man to own it...my christmas tree is still plugged in and going strong and i'm still loving it.  not only are the lights burning strong but i water it every day so i use that bit of extra power to run my well pump.  I guess my new superhero nemesis moniker will be "planet killer/reason Cryder aint catching no fish".  Hopefully someone can design my outfit and mask as i suck at originality.

The Kitchen Commander kicked ours out on News Years Day, the goats are enjoying its tastiness.🤣

I hope you're sitting down for this but not only is my Christmas tree still blazing but I'm doing it concurrently with my 75" tv going and you can see the wife's head using her plugged in I phone.  I will unlock the front door so the electrical cops don't have to break it down coming to arrest me

I just saw a study on the wind mill thing , they are saying the maintenance and hydrolic fluid it takes is out wieghing they're electrical output , call me stubborn or stupidly ignorant I geuss Judaspriest hellbent for leather, rough or rude crowd ? 🤣🥴😆😵‍💫the blades half to be removed and serviced yearly it's a three day four man job with the ose of a very expensive crane , and if the blade needs replaced or shipped for service , that particular mill will never get even in costs , cuz reservice will never let it produce unuff energy to replace costs of services , ever , again with the look it up !! SOLAR FOLKS ! ( OOOOOPS ! )
