I was eyeballin the 6.8w
How does the 7 prc stack up against the 7 saum? Wouldn’t this be a better comparison than the 28 nos?
The 28 nosler is awesome, a little too awesome.. Average barrel life estimateed at 1,000 rounds.. yikes! Course when a box of ammo is $80 a thousand rounds might be a ways off. When your experimenting with almost 100grns of bmg powders, your in a different category all together. The 6.8 western is also awesome. It was awesome the first time they made it 20 years ago. I still have a 270wsm I've been meaning to rebarrel. At least you can still order brass, though the western might put a nail in that coffin.Hornady hasn't let me down yet with the 6.5prc, even with the great ammo depression, they did their best. Not sure I'll end up with the 7 version, the 6.5 has been an incredible little package with a lot of reloading, ammo and rifle support. But if Hornady and the rest of the industry gives the 7prc the same love I think it could do really well.
https://www.hornady.com/7prc#!/2975 with 180's and a 24in barrel from factory ammo in a case this size is pretty good.
Seems like it might thread the needle, I was looking at 6.5 PRC and 300 prc. I wanted slightly more than the 6.5 for elk but not the recoil of the 300.

I think the "custom" statement was made because of reamer design. A quick search only shows Savage with one on the market. So if you want a 7PRC but not a Savage, I guess it's going to be "custom".Hey, if someone wants a new toy cool rock on, but there is a whole lot of marketing behind it and it probably will do okay because of that, not because it fills a void in the market.Dead is dead, 7PRC, 7RM, 7SAUM.... it really doesn't matter, that's all I'm saying. I see bullet selection and making a good shot far more important than which comparable 7mm cartridge to select. YMMV and that's okay!
Hmmmmmm New barrel time for the old truck gun, just gotta get the right Reamer to avoid the common PRC Clickers
Just received this in the mail. I believe they are telling me I need a .284 cartridge in my safe

Now if only you could buy that ammo!
Man it's too bad there aren't already some .284 clamberings that can push a 180 at 2900fps +
