Keystone 220 BHWE. 2018
« on: January 29, 2023, 08:02:35 PM »
One of our sons is looking at the stated model.  Anybody out there had any experience with one or Keystone trailer?

We've got a 2020 Keystone Laredo 332BH, it's been good to us for the most part. A refrigerator failed on our first trip, and the rear slide out cable frayed, but aside from that it's been solid, and the dealership addressed those issue with no problems. It's not top of the line but it's nice, I don't see much difference in the workmanship between it and any of the other major brands. I think 90% of being happy with a trailer in the grand scheme of things is the floorplan, if it works for you and you have useable space, you'll like it, if not...?

We have a 2019 bunkhouse cougar (keystone), bought it new, had to work out the bugs that all new trailers have in that class.  Since the fix’s have been done, been a good trailer except for the China bombs, had one blow on a short trip, now have the tire pressure monitors.  If he’s buying used, check check it out real good, look for signs of it being flooded, plug it it and make sure everything works, have them turn the fridge on before he looks and have it running w propane just to make sure.  Fridges are expensive.

Had a 2015 Bullet that was trouble-free. Currently “own” a 2021 Hideout that has spent more time at the dealer than it has with us.

New trailers have zero Quality Assurance coming out of the factories, I’m talking mostly average trailers. A used one that is a year or two old that has already been fixed might be the Best Buy, if never flooded by rookie mistakes.

He should bring his own propane bottle, then there’s no excuse of well  the propane is empty & I didn’t get around to getting it filled.

Another good idea, have the guy put enough water in it so he can turn the pump on, leave it on while looking at it, if it turns on while not running water there might be a leak. Could be air in the lines or outside shower hasn’t been run, but it’s a good test. I know it’s winter and it’s prob winterized but I’d do it if I was selling it.

Hi,

RV ownership is hit or miss. Same year, same model can be vastly different in quality.

I have a 2013 Keystone Cougar that I purchased new. Aside from the nit noid little things, it's been a dependable RV.

It's vitally important to perform roof inspections x2 a year as water is an RV's worst enemy.

Here's a link to an excellent Keystone Forum. One of the Admin's is a mechanic at a Dealership:

http://keystonerv.org/forums/index.php

Search on the forum for "PDI". This is an inspection sheet you need to print and take with you when looking at the RV.

Keystone is owned by Thor, who owns many of the big name manufactures and most manufactures use the same appliances.

Run the hot water heater off propane too.

Bought a 2021 keystone springdale 2010BH new in September of 2021. We bought it mostly for hunting seasons and occasional trip to camp with friends. After it's initial forest gravel road shake down of 8 miles off pavement quote a bit of sawdust rattled around and settled everywhere inside. Also the quality of the wood they used doesn't seem to be the sturdiness, my 95lb daughter leaned back too fast I to the dining table back and it cracked the wood frame. Had to stick it back together with wood crews. The silicone they used for the shower is low quality and turning yellow only after 2 years and never seeing direct light. The top bunks paneling just about fell off and into the bottom bunk. Really seems like they shot this thing together with the absolute smallest staples.

I took things for what it was at the time. Bought it when every dealer was scrounging for a trailer to sell and factories couldn't keep up due to supply chain problems. However this is our first trailer and I am still kinda naive to most of the problems occurring with new trailers tpdau,?.

Crawled and climb.  Hot water tank works  heater fridge and all accessories lighting wasn't abused.  Son decided to purchase it.  His first trailer but better than tent camping in the NW.  He's excited 😊
