Fried Elk Summer Sausage
« on: January 10, 2011, 10:07:42 AM »
My Father in Law gave me a log of elk summer sausage this year.
It was horrible, bland, dry, mealy. I hated to see it go to waste. So i was frying up some pheasant last night and dredged a few pieces of the sausage in the cracker meal and tossed it in the oil.
Not bad. In fact it was very good. Hard to beat fried anything though ;)
I think it was his first attempt at sausage. Should I say anything or keep quiet?

Did he make it or have it made? Why not ask to help and "try" new recipes?

He made it. Another good point. I may ease my way into it.
He would go to any friend for advice before family. So we will see how this goes.

I love some fried elk summer sausage sandwiches... mmmmmmmmmmmmm
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

I love fried summer sausage.  I like to take 4 thin slices and fry them on one side for a bit, then flip them over and bunch them together and then melt some cheddar cheese on top of them.  Slap them between 2 pieces of soft white bread and chow down.  YUM.  This works equally well with any kind of bologna.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice
