Atom broadheads- Anyone use them?
« on: April 13, 2011, 05:48:38 PM »
A buddy just told me to check out Atom broadheads. They look pretty cool. Ive always shot muzzys but have been considering switching to Shuttle T's then he told me about these Atoms. My biggest concern was how well they hold up. Anyone have any experience with them?

Huh.. For turkeys  or what ? they look cool but thats about all... I only shoot wasp... killed way to much stuff with them and the result is always the same deadly...When you shoot threw a big bulls shoulder blades at 70 yds with 70 # and a complete pass threw then something is working right and i never ever had a blade fall out of a wasp ... they will bend but will not break or fall apart...

They are legal. I talked to a guy who shot a bull with them and didn't like how they performed. Can't go wrong with shuttle-t's imo.

I have shot one deer with the Atom. It was about 43 yards and a complete pass thru. The shot was a touch back due to my error but did pretty good damage. It flew exactly like my field points. I plan to shoot them again this fall and make a better shot. Pretty pricey at the shops but you can get them online at bass pro.

I like the idea, and the way they are constructed seems like they would fly well but I was uncertain of their integrity. Seems like they would break easy. The guy who told me about them says his buddy uses the Atoms and wouldn't use anything else.

i shoot the ol ' thunderheads at 125 grains. never shot an animal with one but when shooting targets i didnt have to mess with my sights at all between them and my field tips.

Atoms are NOT legal in Washington the rear of the blades move (slides)

This is one of the questions we get asked in about every other IBEP class we teach. They are legal only for small game here.
