SINGLED OUT and tired of paying for fees
« on: January 27, 2012, 08:35:53 PM »
Discover pass    :bdid:

I was on the northwest wheelers board and no one likes the idea there either.  Most of people on that board refuse to buy one.

Do away with the discover pass.  We already have to pay out the a*$ to do the things we enjoy.  If they are going to single us out and make us pay even more.   Then they should do it to other hobbyist's too.

Why don't they make the bicyclist that use the same roads we drive on have tabs or a on road permit for their bikes. Hit the city people back like they do all of us. The people pushing this issue are not the people that even use the land.  So I say they should make the bicyclist pay for riding permits.  I wonder how far a bill like that would go.  Probably not very far.

That's my idea whats yours?

If its going to be us that gets hit with another fee and singled out.  Then I think we should come up with some more ideas that they could put fees on in city.

Lets see how many crazy ideas we can come up with !!!!!!!

I fully agree with the bike license thing.  They keep spending money putting in bike lanes and other bike crap yet these people contribute nothing to pay for the improvements that benefit them.  When I was a kid, the town I grew up near required bicycle licenses and this was 30+ years ago.

Why would they charge fees for bicycles? They want to encourage the use of bicycles, not discourage it.

Public toilets..... $.15 a sheet.....    :dunno:    :chuckle:   Could make a killing.....

But I do like the bike fee idea... They "share" the roads and are in my way most the time because they think they own them..... What is so *censored*ing hard about getting over to the shoulder when you can't go 35 mph up a hill..... Yet you can't give enough room for cars/trucks to pass you..... My mirror doesn't care who you are....   :chuckle:

I'd guess that most people that ride bicycles also drive a car at times and pay the same fees as everyone else.

And its the same thing we pay for are car or trucks that we drive to the woods.  But we still have to pay another fee to go to DNR land.  Dont see your point there.

The point is, that in order to encourage modes of transportation that do not burn up fossil fuels and pollute our air, they are not going to make it more expensive for people to do so. If you want to charge people for riding a bicycle do you also want to charge people for walking on the sidewalks?

How about the GO PLAY OUTSIDE moto the wdfw has put in their game regs.  But then they charge us even more for curtain areas.

Every OTHER vehicle that uses the public roadways has to be licensed, I don't see why there should be any difference for bicycle riders.

I'd guess that most people that ride bicycles also drive a car at times and pay the same fees as everyone else.

I mostly drive my truck that I have licensed, so I shouldn't have to license my motorcycle for the few times I drive it right?   :dunno:

I've already stated the reason. They don't burn up fossil fuels and they don't pollute. You don't make it more expensive for people to do something that benefits us all.

I am all for less use of fossil fuels and helping out the earth.  The problem is that these users also cost our society money for the improvements that benefit them.  They should have to contribute to cover those costs as well.  My fossil fuel burning vehicle uses gas, not only do I pay for my registration/license, I also pay a crap load in gas taxes.

I am also for the Discover Pass and the WDFW "Use" fees for people that are otherwise (hunting and fishing license purchasers) not supporting the resources and infrastructure that they are enjoying and using.
