What a crappy day
« on: July 06, 2012, 06:43:51 PM »
I do not have a fancy camper. a old one but works for what it is.  Today i was going to put my camper on my truck because I was leaving for the summer camp I work at tonight and low and behold the rear camper jack just about came off the camper :bash: Anyone ever had to fix this problem before? Looks to be a little dry rot ?
how much am I gonna have to tear this thing apart? I wont be able to get to it now will have to wait. Got to head to camp for the week.
thanks for any advice you might have..
If its brown knock it down

You can pull the siding and replace the wood but on an older camper this may turn into a big job. Another solution is to remove the jack and inject fiberglass resin to saturate the entire area around the jack attachment point. Once this cures you can attach the jack again.

in my opinion thats sounds like a terrible idea! i would find out where the leak is and fix it so it doesnt rot anymore, then find a way to fix the floor. if you just go start pumping resin in there its gonna spread the rot to other places since the water cant go there anymore.
they call me the bloodhound cause i can track a wounded animal in the rain for 2 days when all it has is a splinter.. sniff sniff awooo

Strip it down for the recycle,, and get you a new one, or a good used one.. I have done the corner repair job, and it will work for a while.. Not worth it in my book..

:yeah: There's no such thing as Dry Rot--there's moisture getting in somewhere, and the damage is probably more extensive than it looks.  If you've gotten your fun and use out of it, junk it and get a better one.  With the economy what it is, there's probably a bunch of nice used ones out there for sale.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Stopping the water intrusion was a given. But thanks for pointing that out as it would be a huge mistake to neglect that part of the repair!
