Someone to paint my boat camo?

I was trying to steer away from a wrap since I'm pretty hard on it. I competitively bowfish which means I'm usually in submerged trees and brush. The graphics on it now look like somebody came through with a pair of scissors and scratched it all up. I'll try and track Coho down and see what he can do. Maybe wraps have gotten better in the last couple years. Thanks.

If the wrap is going to get ripped up by the stuff you are taking through your paint will too. The difference is paint takes A LOT more prep work to do and costs a lot more as well.

 That being said, you could be talking about a flat, non reflective military type camo. If that is the case then just rattle can it yourself, but if you are wanting a "realtree" "mossy oak" type camo then a wrap would be the way I would go. If it gets scratched up you simply peel it off and do it again, much cheaper than paint.

ya...he's in marysville and is on there again in the boat section.  gonna take my 14' jon to him next weekend.  says he can do in one day.  fairly reasonable price i guess.

Started doing wakeboarding boats but does everything now.

Good point about wrecking the paint as much as the wrap. I talked to the guy on CL. Said he's painted something like 35 boats in the last year. He doesn't have a shop and only paints when the weathers good. Hard to bieve he can get it done in a day. I think I'll investigate more.

Had a gal paint my boat.




It has stayed on for 3 years.  The only spot it has worn off is when I rubbed up on a stump for 6 hours and it wore through the regular factory paint too.  I run in debris and bushes all the time.  I'm glad I painted instead of stickers.

If you consider washing a boat to paint it more prep work than washing a boat to put stickers on it, I guess you're correct.

Do it yourself.  Pick up the stencils from Cabelas and a few rattle cans.  It will turn out good if you put a little time in.  Make sure you give the stencils time to dry after painting or the build up on the back of the stencil will smear or wipe with a rag after a few sprays.  My buddy purchased a new North River and we did this to his boat.

ok...so i went with a different person on c/l.  she's  out of Yelm and is running her own business, trying to get it back on track and very reasonable. i  got her info if anyone wants it, just pm me.

here's how my 14' jon boat turned out.  sanded,  primered, painted and camo'd in a little over a day.

stencils on the side is no more than eye candy for us. If your blind is grassed up good it will hang over the sides causing shadows. a plain duck poop green is fine. What everyone fails to think about is how it looks from above. Unless you have drivers screaming down the river 2 ft off the water or sea ducks. What is above the gunnels is more important.
What busts you the most is ripples caused by movement in the boat.

Still up in the air about wrap or paint. Wrap $750-$1000. Paint $500-$700 I'll post a pic after decision.

I painted my duck boat about 11 years ago, been through brush and salt with no issues.  I think I washed it, lightly scuffed it, wiped with solvent and then sprayed.  I also used some stencils.  Turned out pretty well.  There is some wear on the high spots, but a lot of that is from rubbing during transport in the bed of the truck.

Do it yourself.I have painted 3 of my boats and yeah the paint will scratch and wear a little but not bad. I use mine year round for fishing and hunting so they get well used.    With paint it is just a matter of cleaning and lightly scuffing it then paint it. You don't need to pay for stencils either. Grab some branches or cat tails or reeds and spray over them in what ever pattern and colors you want. If it scratches grab some reeds a d a can and fix it in 5 minutes.  All of the boats I have done have come in under $100 in paint and have been done in a day.

I agree that you should do it yourself : the picture is my first camo paint in life ever ,just used one handfull bunch of grass and I think it turned out OK ......

Black hoody;  ya wear one of those over here after thanksgiving, we'd probaly have to chip it off of your frozen body.  Well maybe as a base layer it'd work.

I would NOT wrap a hunting boat... just my    I painted my boat this year using Styx River stencil kit... Not too hard and turned out great!
