the entiat is a street legal vehicle only area, no quads or side by sides unless they are street plated.

Some of you guys have been taking Dan Quayle's internet classes on spelling. :chuckle:

Some of us are dealing with the wonders of autocorrect. It can completely save you or hose you depending on how close you're paying attention. And some of us are just illiterate hillbillys so be happy you can understand our words at all.  :)

Just pointing out the "potatoe" creek references. ;)

Great idea to drive the roads and check out the drainages.  That could also keep you out of trouble when the snow comes.  Don't expect to see many deer; 80 to 90% of the deer in the Entiat winter range migrate down from farther up valley and come over the the Wenatchee & Chelan drainages.

You will see quality bucks but it sometimes takes many days of hunting before you can get a good chance at a shot.  There are certain spots "honey wholes" where I would concentrate but you can discover those on your own.  67 years in the Entiat Valley; we are beginning to zero in on those spots.

Some of your hunting area just got burned up.  I'm not sure of the total acerage but it was right in the winter range.  Correct me if i'm wrong but i think it got some of Potatoe Creek.  My inlaws live up there so this is hear-say.  Good luck on your tag.

He is from 2001, when I had the late rifle tag. I shot him by mistake, as he was on the same ridge as another 4 pt that got away a few hours earlier (I got to hold the sheds of the one that got away, was a solid 180 class 4 pt).

Snowshoes22- the fie you are talking about was about 40 acres (named the Decker Fire), and is contained. I live in the entiat valley and that fire did no damge to the unit at all.

fun hunt!   pray for snow,   and like everyone else has allready  mentioned  buy good chains, ice cleats ar a plus.   the ice under the snow  will sneak up on you and the roads  all seem to be graded to the down hill side.   i hunted the entiat with my father and brother last year and shot my best buck to date.  he wasnt huge but definatly my personal best.   if you dont have quality  optics, get some!  you wont regret  spending the money.
I don't always shoot big mule deer, but when I do, it's with a bow tech!

If we get a good snow, spend most of your time in these canyons.  See photo.

Don't leave out mud creek, potatoe creek, stormy creek, Oklahoma gulch, johnson creek, pretty much the whole unit is decent. I would even check out chelan butte area.
