 this is the dog I gave to the birdaddict on this board,pic is from the dogs first season in south dakota.

I sure miss this one,gone before her time at 8 years,and a true pleasure to own,one of the most honest dogs I've owned around game and a real birdfinder.

  Deadbirds shot,particulary don't care for these photos but I've got just a few,a mornings hunt with a FC.

 The Mrs and her first rooster,so danged excited she dropped the gun on the ground and raced the dog to the bird!

I don't mean to go all internet police on you, but I sure hope you didn't shoot that Mountain Quail around Pomeroy.    The WDFW spent a lot of money a few years ago trying to get them re-established somewhere along Asotin Creek, and they are protected on the dry side.

And how far east is it ? Could it be oregon perhaps,appears  that there is a season for them in umatilla/morrow counties ...................................................... 2 per day and 2  in possession from oct 8 thru  Dec 31.......... My displeasure is that a birddog was not involved but................. boys will be boys.

The mountain quail was taken in CA while I was stationed there.

good job getting it with a bow.  i always carry judo points on an arrow when i'm deer hunting just in case i see some small game.

I was deer hunting and it was mid morning and I hadn't seen any deer.  I was sitting in my tree stand and saw the covey working their way down the hill so I decided to bag deer hunting and try my hand and bird hunting with a bow. 

It was a blast and frustrating at the same time.  You come so close and then have to chase after an arrow and keep an eye on where the birds go so you can get another shot.  Was able to get about 4-5 shots off before they got into some thick cover.
