HELP - Utah youth any bull tag
« on: July 15, 2012, 12:49:58 AM »
Well,

My brother got into trouble.   He doesn't hunt but his 13 year old son wanted to so the boy passed hunter ed.   They live in Utah and my bro just called to say that his son drew the Youth Any Bull permit.   Big chunks of the state are open to him.

My bro is overwhelmed.   He's never hunted elk, or deer.

I'm thinking I might have to head there to help.

It's a rifle hunt, Sept 15-22.

Anybody know anything about Utah or where to start my research?

Yikes.

Thanks!

Dan

Can he hunt anywhere in the whole state?  I don't know much about Utah...but I'm sure a google search will pull up the premier units.

I'd go over to http://www.monstermuleys.com/ and introduce yourself.  Share your dilemma with them, and I'd be suprised if you didn't get some help.

Thanks all.

The tag is for all the "General" hunt areas.    I'll post  link to a map later, when I get home.

I might just have to head down there......     :-)

Thanks all!

Here's a link to the hunt description.   I tried extracting info from the page, but i can't.   The map shows the areas, and the text underneath lists the areas.  Basically, it's any of the generally open areas, but he get's to hunt any bull during the rut (Sept. 15-23) with a rifle!!!!

I'd sure apprecaite the help!

I've hunted north and south.  Near which city is he living, you probably don't want to drive to far away.  Name a city and I can get him pointed to a good mountain.
Hunting, Basketball, Cars.... not much more for me to talk about.

He lives in the Salt Lake Valley.    He is willing to travel - goes to Flaming Gorge a lot.   I used to see a bunch of elk around there.......   but it's been 20 years since I've been there.

:yeah:  PLEASE get pics, share them and don't lose your camera! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

In all seriousness, congrats to your nephew and it sounds like you've got some leads but definitely at least check out Monster Muleys because those guys have about every piece of knowledge imaginable on Utah Bulls.  I like checking out the diversity of out of state elk on there just to have something else to drool over but I don't know anything else about them. :dunno:
