Friend, I'm not sure where you are going with this. Obviously, your not going to change my mind, nor I change yours.  To tell the truth, I dont know if they WBY mark 5 is that light. Im sure the Vanguard is or comes close.

Personally, Im not made of money, and really can't afford a WBY. If I could, I still wouldn't buy one. This is America. If you really love them, buy some more of them. That doesn't mean I have to.

For general purpose hunting rifles, brand new, I'll most always buy a Ruger. And have money left over for gas and ammo.

I have 4 700's,  700 bdl stainless 300 UM, 700 SPS 22-250, 700 VTR 308 and the newest 700 XCR 375 UM.  I am partail to Remington.  I love all of my rifles.  I have owned 5 weatherbys and sold everyone.  Everyone makes good guns it is just like anything else, sometimes you get bad ones.  Like trucks Ford, Chevy, Dodge.

Cool, I just wanted to know what could be sooo wrong with one, that you couldn't get paid to take one? I HATE controlled round feed designs like kimber, Model 70's,etc. I hate their big stupid wing 3 stage safety, big ugly claw running down the side of the bolt, but I wouldn't turn one down for free, hell you wouldn't even have to pay me!! Not trying to cross swords with ya, just wanted to know what was wrong with them...

2 I won at banquits the other 3 I got on a smokin deal (close out deals)  1 300 wby mag,  7mm rem,  30-06.  The 300 and 7mm were both mark V's and did not group well.  The 06 was a vanguard deluxe and had no use for it.

My prior post was directed at MW 338.

The pard had a Remington 700, 260. Best handloads were3'', contacted Remington, they said 3-31/2 was acceptable?? Maybe by somebody? Good and bad in all of em, atleast Weatherby has a 1 1/2'' guarantee....

My first real centerfire rifle was a 700, back when the 7rem mag came out, and it had a plated stainless barrel. Think everyone in the fam killed a deer with it. As much as I liked it, it's not totally ideal for me.  Now, I'll never try to build a one hole rifle, because I have no use for a bench rifle, but..... IF I did, it would certainly be a Remington 700. Everything else, a Ruger or a Mauser will suite me just fine.

Did you contact em about it? One of the pards sent back a Ultra Lightweight, didn't shoot that bad. Sent it down to Weatherby, they sent it back fixed.

No I sold them.  Both rifles I only put a box of rounds through.  I got the for dirt cheap and made some good $ on them.  I have always been a Remington fan so I just wanted to see how they shot.  I know another guy who had so many problems with his that Weatherby sent him a check for it.  Like I said you get good ones and bad ones from all.  I have never had a problem with my 700's.

have you ever tried to cycle a round through a pushfeed action upsidedown?  as far as picking between a vanguard weatherby and the real weatherby i would take a vanguard everytime, i just think they are a good buy in a rifle.

Why would I do that? Or anybody for that matter? Yes, Vanguards are a good value.....

OK poulsbo, just for *censored*s and giggles, I opened up the safe, grabbed my boys Model 700 classic 7 MM Remington Magnum, layed flat on my back, and cycled 8 rounds, 2 magazines through it. Some I cycled like I was shooting at a big buck, some I did slooow. Whats your point here?

Yea, I thought I disputed this one enough too...

i own five Remmy 700's, and have cycled multiple rounds through all of them, upside down, one side, then the other....pick another argument folks, that one ain't working, and holds no water.

Its an urban legend.

look, once again let me point out, Snipers since Vietnam have been using the Remmy 700....its a dependable action. Proven.

If we have likes/dislikes we can voice them....like grandpa says, if everyone liked the same thing, grandma wouldn't be safe!

If we want to say what is good/bad about remmy 700's as compared too Weatherby Mark V's or Vanguards, lets stick to the facts.....

YES, the weatherby bolt is about 1" in diameter..maybe a bit more, I can dig mine out and mike it if everyone wants....heavy-yes.

YES, the vanguard is a reliable, dependable rifle and its AFFORDABLE, that alone makes it a deal to own. As good if not better than the mausers, enfields (yes, these were proven not that accurate by the English, lets not beat this up).

The Remmy 700....where do I start???? Used by Snipers? Yep (M40, M24, several designations...).  Used by more custom builders than any other factory action? Yep, and why? Its round....that makes it EASY to work on. Here's one that not many know...there was a recall several years ago, 35,000 rifles in fact...you see, the early 700's would go off "occasionaly" when you closed the bolt....your not telling me anything "I" don't already know. but *censored*.....IT SHOOTS. And it has more parts available than ANY other rifle out there.
What else is there to talk about or compare to the Remmy?

This is in fact taking NOTHING away from other makers.

Make your choice, and be happy=GO SHOOTIN' YOU BUMS!
