Trucking Fish
« on: July 27, 2012, 07:42:25 AM »
So i was reading on the thread about baker lake and I saw that they have trucked over 12k fish up there.  That got me thinking, why don't they truck fish above Cheif Joe and Grand Coulee? That would open up probably close to 1000 miles of water.  They could put a smolt trap above the dams to catch the smolts coming down.  Seems like it would be a win/win  :dunno:
Thoughts?

Its not all that effective. They have been doing it on the Cowlitz for years trying to reestablish a wild run of fish and all they are really doing is just pissing into the wind! :bash: :bash: :bash:

I've fished them in the cispus and I know that a lot of people fish the tilton for trucked fish. It at least spreads people by opening up a ton of water

Sorry I misunderstood your question I thought you were talking about trying to open up more spawning grounds for these fish. Not increased opportunity, yes you are right it would allow for people to have a greater area to chase the fish!

I was talking about both increased spawning grounds and increased opportunity.

Same thing on the Lewis River!!  Trucking fish up to Swift to release to 100 miles of natural spawning grounds.  New smolt collector in Swift to truck them back down.  170 MILLION DOLLARS!!!,  to be paid by the rate payers of PP&L to re-establish fish that nobody can catch an keep.  No clipped adipose fins!!!   Maybe the gill netters on the Columbia.  Go figure.   It's called EXTORTION!!
