Question for those of you with Eberlestock rifle scabbard packs?

I have been looking to replace my day pack. I have been looking at a few like the Badlands Super day pack, and the Eberlestock X1 or X2.

The main issue I have with the Super Day pack, it does not look like the waist strap is very substantial?
I carry a handgun off hand and not having a good waist strap concerns me.

The question I have of those who carry the Eberlestock X1 packs is:
What do you do with the gun sleeve when not in use?
Does it stow up out of the way?
I have never worn on, but it looks like it could be a hindrance while hunting?

Has anyone used the Eberlestock X2?
I like the idea of a frame and having the air between my back and the pack. But the X2 looks like it does not have the molle the X1 has to mount a holster?

I assume the X2 is the same as the rest, and yes, it folds up and tucks in.

Well, I've owned a few.  My biggest negatives are the weight of the packs.  Heavier than I'd prefer.  Also, they can take a pretty good size load out once getting back to the truck, but I wouldn't want to pack several with them.  Kifaru/MR are much better in that aspect.  I've have the J107, J34, and Gunslinger II.  If you're using a 50mm scoped gun with a bipod, the J107 and J34 have a smaller opening for the guncarrier, and they require the pack to off to load and unload your rifle.  They will fit, but snug.  The gunslinger II was the wide opening and is perfect for a day pack, but small to haul much out.  Enough though for a cape, rack, and medium compression meat sack.  Also, on the J107/34s, you could probably cut out the hydration bladder part and make more room for the rifle in the carrier.  I've though about attempting it.

I have the X1.  I love it.  Yes, it is a bit heavy, but not so heavy as to be an issue.  I like it because I am a bigger guy, and it fits me.  I use the rifle sleeve year around, it carries my tripod or .22 during the summer.. 

There is plenty of room for your gear, and lots of room for packing out boned out meat, for a first trip out, and get the pack frames.

The rifle scabbard has never been in the way for me....  even with no rifle in the scabbard, it makes a padded seat  when I am sitting down taking a break.

I would only replace this pack, if and when I can afford a Nimrod pack system.....

I have the x1 and love it but just like others have said its heavy. The rifle scabbard is awesome I use the heck out of it, I'm not sure I will ever want another pack without one.

Nothing like climbing up a steep muddy/snowy/slick hill with BOTH hands free to grab onto a limb or rock to help yourself out, and KNOWING your rifle is safe and secure and is not going to slip off your shoulder...

I have the X2 and it works very well. It does not have the integral scabbard but I purchased the one that mounts to pack and it holds it nice and secure and rifle is still accessible. Plus you can take it off if not needed. It actually is a very compact pack that can expand quite a bit. You can haul a boned out deer on it if needed. You are correct it does not have the straps on the waist belt like the X1 but it does have some nice sized pockets easy access to GPS, rangefinder, etc. I believe there is one for sale in the classifieds for a good price.

I have the X2 and it works great...even better coupled with a Kifaru gunbearer attached.

I have the X2 now.  I had the X1.  The X2, to me, is much more comfortable on me in every aspect over the X1.  No scabbard on the X2.  I never used it like I thought I would with the X1.

My son-in-law now has my former X1.  When we were in WY last fall, we traded packs for a day.  At the end of the day, he says "wanna trade?"
