Herring Cost??? Update
« on: August 08, 2012, 07:54:16 PM »
I know I can call the Pt. Defiance Boat House for this, but I thought some of y'all that have been fishing the south sound could tell me what the price is this year for fresh herring by the doz.. I plan on taking some down to Westport this weekend... Thanks..

I paid $6 per dozen at the Everett Marina a few weeks ago.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Expect $8 a dozen if you have to buy them in Westport.

Try to catch some  with short trout rod and herring jig at the dock   :chuckle:we do it sometimes and it's lot of fun ...or if you come across bait ball in the ocean ,throw the jig down into water and you'll see what blast  it could be  it's not about the money ,but fresh bait ...........
Everyone thinks that I'm freak ,I don't look different do I ?

I'm thinking that was close to the price last year on the coast..

I have a couple of herring jigs in my tackle box ( if I remember to load them) for both herring and anchovies

I called the boat house today and the cost of herring is $4.11 a doz.. Not tooo bad... I also called the Hungery Whale in Westport, and if I pre-pay for herring the cost is only $5.49 a doz.. If I reserve its 6.25 a doz, or if I take a chance and just show up there going to cost 6.75.. Not as bad as I thought this year..

We've had thousands around the dock out here at different times this summer.  I CANNOT seem to get them to bite.  Can't even snag em....  Why won't they let us use throw nets?

They hit very well on the Gamakatsu Smelt/Herring Jigs – Nothing like fresh herring for picky hitters.

I've tried two or three different ones of those rigs... not holding my mouth right I guess.

The Hungry Whale has had garbage bait all summer. It was so bad we ended up brining frozen our last couple trips.

I have been wondering the same thing  :dunno: I bought one a while back, only to find out that I can't use it  :dunno:
