I overheard a couple of guys over at skookum yesterday talking about how the state might shut down ALL OF ITS LANDS over the entire state before the Holliday weekend if we don't get rain soon. They were saying it's a knee jerk reaction to the houses being burned in the I-90 fire.

Negligent workers started this fire on a state contract.  How about they keep the woods open for the responsible citizens?  No rain in the forecast for the next 10 days.  Hopefully the last 5 days of August will be different.  Lighting tomorrow?!?  :yike:

Weyrhauser hasn't updated their phone line since June 2nd

Depends on which area you're talking about. St Helens was updated on August 1st. I also just discovered that the same information is now available on Weyerhaeuser's website. I believe this is a first. Always had to call and listen to the message before.

Here is the info for St Helens:

OK.

Here's Pe Ell:   http://www.weyerhaeuser.com/pdfs/businesses/recreationalaccess/PeEll-Hotline-Message.pdf

I know Pe Ell doesn't get shut down as often as St Helens.

I got a feeling that its another replay of last year. 90s for the first week and the last weekend rainy and cold.

Looks that way...  Last year it was in the 90's when we packed out my elk.  I flew down the hill so I could get it to a butcher ASAP.  Haha it was hot!

I got sprinkled on today. It's a start. It is still August though.......................

Rain in the forecast for Wednesday on the west side.  Any little bit will help.

I don't remember.  Gate was open for me to drive in when I got there at 3:30am.  When I went to leave at 8pm, gate was closed.  No cell service to call them for help.  PISSED!!!  I managed to get out but I was pissed.  My fault for not calling ahead of time I guess

The area may not be open for vehicle (or even foot) traffic even if the gate is open.  You may very well have been driving where you were never supposed to be.

It was open for vehicle traffic.  I do remember that.

Where were you? Often times I see open gates during archery and muzzloader season but they are rarely open to vehicle access. People still drive in though, past me on my bike. Constantly. It's got to be posted with a green dot or with the bright green signs on green diamond land saying its open for recreational access.

Us archery hunters get kinda screwed on access but it's better that way to me, the animals are much more easier to find and hunt without guys driving around in their rigs.
