darn fires
« on: September 10, 2012, 11:49:30 PM »
Looking like I'm going to have to come up with a plan C for deer this year. With the damn fire over the weekend I am without option A or B this sucks my number one spot I used to go every year for almost twenty years and sit on the same rock and get a deer every year has burnt three out of the last six years now and hasn't been worth a crap since and wouldn't you know it it Burns again this time its pretty big scary close to town and still burning.

Entiat River Road might be open, but they are asking people to stay away unless you live up there.  Even here in the west side of Wenatchee they are having to turn the looky-loos away.  With no wind at all, visibility here in Wenatchee is about 1/4 mile, tops.  With over 100 fires going in the foothills of the Cascades it might be a while before the roads into the hills reopen.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Here is a link to the other fire thread.http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,104809.msg1367047.html#msg1367047
It is way too much information to post since there is so many fires going on right now. Also if they can get a hold of all these fires in the next few days it would help. Since later on this week it is going to get warmer and all the other lighting strikes might start getting active.

Naches Ranger District is called Yakima Complex. It has 95 confirmed fires, 16 contained, 28 staffed, 51 unstaffed.

Cascade Creek South face of Mt Adams. http://www.inciweb.org/incident/3249/

Wentachee Complex: Is 5 different fires spread out from Wentachee to Coulee Dam. The last I heard of the fire near Wentachee is that this fire was starting to turn back towards the houses and a winery in the area of 5th and Surry and in the areas of the intersection of Maple and Benoy directly North of 5th and Surry. Here is a screen shot of this complex: http://www.wildlandfire.com/maps/201...x-location.jpg

Useful Links:
This is an active fire map. You can scroll around and zoom into areas. On the left hand side you can click on the Legend to see what the red dots mean: http://www.arcgis.com/explorer/?open=ed0a7dad32fe4848b20c6f91c74c79ea

Simliar to the above link. This link uses Google Earth to show where satillites picked up fire activity. On Fire Detections: Click (Current), that will show you the updated areas. All you have to do it zoom into Washington State or put in your GPS coords. http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/googleearth.php?sensor=modis&extent=conus

I hope this helps out a bit.

The Wenachee Complex link is http://www.inciweb.org/incident/3258 and Okanogan Complex is http:www.incident.org/incident/3261.   It interesting to see the updates as the fires do there thing.  Map move can be drug around to show all of the larger fires but most of the fires have not been mapped or not grown big enough to show on the maps.
