if I had to pick one rifle it would probilly be a 300wm or wsm . I think all around good compromises . the 6.5 and 7mm are the best deer choices and the .338s for elk as far as energy down range . all good reasons to pick up more guns !

Been a .270 guy my whole life until 2 years ago.  Now my favorite gun is my Rem 700 in 7mm Mag topped with a Leupy VXIII with target turrets.  I am shooting 168 gr Berger VLDs.
I still have the Rem 700 .270 with a VXI as my backup rifle.  PathfinderJR has hijacked it for himself this year.

No such thing as one good rifle. That be like saying you could golf with just one club.

Sir, I beg to differ. Just ask Adam Sandler. :chuckle:

Sako Grey Wolf in .270 Winchester with 3-9x50 Zeiss Conquest scope.  130 grain Hornady SST handloads.  3 rounds into 1 ragged hole at 100 yards.  I am pretty happy with the setup.
I don't know if I done rite or wrong but I always tried to do what I thought best.   --Kit Carson
