Any Word on CoHo in the SnoHo??
« on: October 05, 2012, 08:59:39 AM »
Anyone fishing the Ho yet? I've seen boats in there and a few rollers just crossing over the bridge on 9. Last weekend in the salt was really slow so I was planning on hitting the SnoHo this week. Not sure if its too early, too low, too... anything but hot? Or maybe I will hit the mouth, I'm thinking there is a whole freaking cluster packed up in the bay just out of the mouth waiting for a good rain to shoot up the river?  :dunno:

Anyone doing well in the river? Any useful advice you can give? (just go ahead and give me the advice and I'll grade it useful or not...)  :chuckle:  :chuckle:  :chuckle:

There are silvers in there clear up past Snohomish, have been for weeks! River is the clearest I have ever seen it, we managed 2 two weeks ago with about 11 more that just followed our offerings back to the boat...

Good luck, go get em

Good to know - thanks for the info. I have limited time Sunday so I think I will try the river vs the salt. I'll let you know if we do any good. Thanks again!

Oh there is fish in the river but I could not get them to bite for anything. They were so freaking thick in some spots they were damn near hitting the boat, the water was boiling with fish like humpy season. We pulled plugs, threw spinners, jigs, 50/50 dick nites, buzz bombs - not a DAMN THING! I got a bump on jig, I dont know if it was even on purpose but I wasnt able to put the wood to him...  :ACRY: It was soooooo frustrating to see all those fish and not even be able to foul hook one of those bastages!!  :bash: I was about ready to go all grizzly bear on them and jump in and nab em with my claws. I saw a couple caught here & there, well people said they did but I didnt actually see them catch them, but supposedly all were taken on orange plugs. I dont know if I should go back to the salt or what, they are in the river dang thick, but as usual them little f'ers wont bite. I told myself last year I'd never fish for silvers in the river again.....   :pee:

I took a guy from work out saturday. He has never caught a salmon although he can now say he has hooked one.  :bash:  He didn't set the hook hard enough. I managed to put 2 in the box. Not all that good considering we were on the water for almost 11 hours. We hooked ours on 5 foot 6 pound leaders with the smallest pink or orange corky with a pair of anise scented red rubber eggs.

What was just as frustrating as not catching more fish was watching a three men throwing 10-12' leaders and finishing each cast with a full body hookset. They must have snaged 60 fish! They were smart enough not to keep them with all the people around. They were out most of the day and only left with 2 "legally" hooked fish.

Similar results for us Friday. Got one small one on a red plug right before I had to go to work. We need rain period. I'll be waiting to call in sick  :chuckle:

HA HA 'call in sick' - thats funny. I thought I was the only one thinking that way! Same plan here I'll be calling in when that rain comes too - and now I wont feel so guilty about it!

Will the rain turn them on to biting? I thought it would just bring more in the river but there are plenty of them in there now, just no biters. In the deeper pools & slots it was UNREAL how many fish were marking on the sonar- un-freakin-real - I thought something was wrong with it until the water started to boil like a bunch or piranhas in a cheap horror flick.

Snoho coho are notorious for being lockjawed. After a first rain they will bite great but the window will be small. :twocents:

You can catch them well into November, and the later fish bite better.  Not as many around but there are fish to be caught.
