Awesome story!  I don't remember my first hunt. But I do remember my first buck I killed with my dad at my side.

Great story! I'll be taking my 6 year old out for his first hunt( he won't be carrying a rifle). We'll go out and sit in a spot with good wind for a couple/four hours or whenever he wants to wrap it up. Its all about him,its all about him,I will be repeating that in my head from the moment I rustle him out of bed to when we get back home. I don't which of us is more excited. Good luck all!

 :'( Kind of brings tears ot ones eyes when they remember things like that great read thanks.
I can remember taking brasso the night beofore our hunts just to polish one bullet that I would hopefully use on a deer.
Greasing my boots sharpening my knife getting camping gear ready all that.

Great story from another era I never experienced but taking my son out fit his first hunt this fall, I only hope I can make it as memorable for him.

Wow. You had me so drawn in I didnt want the story to end. Im 38 and have no kids. However, I do have 3 young nephews whose dads dont hunt. Just maybe I can share my experience with them. What a good story! Thanks for sharing :)
