2 cows down
« on: October 12, 2012, 07:57:12 PM »
to start this off i will tell you these are both my brother and i first elks. well im going to make these stories short and sweet since i gotta get up early for deer opener. to start me and my brother got into the elk every day in one of my honey holes, called them in but they were smart enough to stay just out of sight saw a Monster 8 x 7 at about 200 yards, people have been after him for years. then yesterday my brother went out to my other spot and  sat in my blind, after calling for about 40 minutes he got a lead cow to sneak up on the right at about 20 yards she noticed him so he had to hurry and shoot left handed even though he is right handed. great shot she only ran about 50 yards then piled up. got the horses and had her back and hanging within a couple hours. then today we went out in the pissing rain in yet another one of my spots and called for over an hour after no luck we began to head out spooking about 8 head of elk. they were not stopping i decided to put on the pursuit running after them while garrett my brother called like crazy. they began to slow down then a 5 x 5 stopped and gave me a broadside shot at 30 yards i threw up to hear nothing but CAP!!!!!!!!!!! the powder didnt light. he busts i hurry and put on another cap. the only one curious enough to stay still was this beautiful calf i shot threw some ferns at about 60 yards she took off about 30 yards and piled up. there both hanging hope you like the pictures  :hello:
