Teachermans 2012-2013 Trapping Journal
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:06:25 PM »
Well season is underway in AK I got started back on the 25th of Sept. My partner and I have managed to put up over 30 beaver and 50 rats since the opener. We had a little set back a week ago when he had an accident with his .410 and actually shot himself in the hand and arm. Only 7 days later and already 3 surgeries later he's back in the field. This is going to be a great season!!! Our goal is over 100 canines and cats along with beaver, otter, mink and rats!!! Hope everyone enjoys pics of the frigid north!

working bubble trails under the ice.

My trapping partner checking some crossover sets.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

More under the ice action!

A beaver chew works great for breaking the ice! Checking another bubble trail.

Can't wait for mink to open! I've got a ton of 120's for blind sets.

I've got a really cool pic of it but its also very graphic so I didn't know if I should post it. Its one of the xray pics with the actual pic of the arm cleaned up so you can see down to the bone next to it.

Crazy part is they are leaving most of the LEAD pellets in his arm. They said it will cause more damage removing them than its worth. I was shocked. I expected him to be out for the season and the doctors have been telling him that as long as it doesn't hurt to use it as much as possible. He only has about 20% use/feeling in his left hand at this point plus its in a splint up against his body. Has another surgery in the morning, then within 10 days should actually be able to use his hand again.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.
