My reading comprehension is just fine.. been at a college level since I was 12 years old...I am just pointing out, there is a whole hell of a lot of help that happens on this site. HOWEVER, bitching about someone posting on a public forum about a public raffle tag, that is in the PUBLIC hunting regs, for the entire HUNTING PUBLIC to READ.. is pretty pathetic.just my and I do not post all my help in public because I like that I can help behind the scenes, and then read the success stories after the fact, and read how they followed my advice and were successful. That said, they still had to get drawn, before they got the info, and actually put the shoe leather on the ground, to earn the animal.

Not to mention that by flaming out over this you have ensured that this thread will get ten times as many views as it would have.
Quote from: ellensburgpo on October 19, 2012, 09:08:46 PMThere are lots of people on here who offer advice, some of it very specific. I don't think I'll bother posting coordinates to the family farm because there is a zero percent chance of a random person getting on it. The pay to play idea has been happening on lots of areas for a long time. I get where your coming from, but there isn't exactly a shortage of places to hunt in this state, public or private. Comparing Washington and Texas doesn't make sense to me because they are two very different situations. It sounds like you had a good deal hunting private property for free and its gone now? That sucks, I've been in the same boat. I was lucky to get to hunt it for the years that I did and now somebody else is because the property sold. Oh well, I killed my best buck and bull ever this year so life goes on.Post up the coordinates to the family farm, it's only right that everyone at least has the ability to attempt to gain access. More opportunities for everyone right?

More competition leads to fewer hunting opportunities for myself. So next year the chance of me getting drawn is next to nothing. I understand this is selfish of me, but if you are so altruistic and want better/more opportunities for others to have good hunts, why don't you post your honey holes here for everyone to see? It would be selfish of you not to inform everyone where they might have a better chance at success. It's like someone coming on here and saying "I found this awesome Feel Free to Hunt area it's next to a huge wildlife refuge with monster bulls and to get access all you have to do is..." Now I bet if you hunted this same place you would be "Of F somebody just let the cat out of the bag." The last thing you would be doing is championing greater access for Washington Sportsman.Would be nice if I had a honey hole....I have yet to even see a deer or bear at any of the places I have scouted/hunted. If anyone wants to know where I hunt though I would be happy to share. I know there are critters there cause I have seen the poop and tracks.Let me put it another way though, that organization is a non-profit that is providing value to the landowners in exchange for access to land. Are you really so selfish that instead of having a free chance of getting drawn for access you would rather they fold up due to lack of funding/support and have nobody get access at all? Or worse have those landowners start leasing the land exclusively to outfitters instead so you can pay for the privilege of hunting there?I take it you're not familiar with the area. Without this organization one would just have to knock on some door and talk to landowners. Don't get me wrong, what these landowners are doing is great and the access they provide is awesome. They are providing opportunities for hunters and I appreciate that. Yes, I know it is selfish of me to try and preserve limited opportunities for east side elk next to a NWR. One day you will find a great honey hole after burning $$$ in gas, time, and sweat. Then some *censored*r will come on here and say that he killed an awesome bull in so and so area and the following year it will be be covered in people. Maybe I'm jaded, but I've seen it before.

Quacksmokere, have a coke and a smile...it'll be ok...
Awhile back, I bought a few raffle tickets for one of the January cow hunts over outside of the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge through the Columbia Plateau Wildlife Management Association. I learned about the CPWMA from a friend of mine and purchased the tickets because the money goes to help procure access for outdoorsman on several different properties around Cheney that CPWMA manages. I thought it was a worth while group, so I decided to give away a few dollars to help a good cause. So this morning, I got an email from them saying I was drawn for one of the 1/1-1/15 cow permits. I don't ever seem to be the "lucky" one, so it was kind of shocking to me that I was actually drawn. I will still be able to hunt Modern on the Westside, but I am excited to do a little elk hunting in January if I don't tag out on a bull in November. Have any of you guys ever been drawn for one of these permits or hunted elk around the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge? I want to educate myself on this area since I have never hunted any of their properties, so any pointers or information about this area would be appreciated.
Let's switch roles for a moment. Say you found a nice piece of state land, a good feel free to hunt area, or a unique opportunity to access private land. Yes the information is public knowledge but it takes some effort to find. Then some one comes on here and provides detailed information about it. Would you be happy? Would it be childish to want to keep this information quiet? The impression I am getting is that all this information should be shared openly.
