Im looking for a hunting rifle in .270 win for my wife. Looking for good advice on 270's you have used or fired that have been awesome rifles. My personal rifle used to be my dads, its a old remington 700 BDL in 270. Kinda want to see what others are out there and your experiences with them. -thanks  :)

I have a 270 in Win M 70 Featherweight, I bought it when I turned 14 (I'm 30 now) and it has been a great rifle. It is super light as the name implies, has a 22" barrel, the controled feed Pre-64 style action and shoots a nice 5/8" three shot group at 100yrds w/ 130gr accubons. Besides being a nice handy rifle and its a real looker too. The featherweight has a schnoble stock (sp?) and you can mount a bi-pod if you want with just a piece of leather under the mount without maring the wood.

Browning A-Bolt.  Good solid, accurate rifle.  I have 2.

I bought my wife a Remington 770 in .270. "WalMart Special"
It is light and easy for her to handle (not that bad of a kick).
Turned out to be a good gun for her.

Can't go wrong with a Remington 700. This is a Remington 700 ADL synthetic in .270 Win I purchased about 6 years ago at a local Bi-Mart. They were phasing the ADL's out with the arrival of the Remington 700 SPS. I purchased this rifle new for 299.00 bucks and change with the tax. I don't think you can ask for more from a factory 300.00 buck rifle. I've paid a heck of a lot more for customs to do the same. ;) Makes a guy wonder sometimes.

most recent purchase is a savage 110 .270 lefty.  my new favorite all around rifle now.  3 big game species down with it and not a single problem.  very little kick and smaller exit hole with less meat loss.  currently firing win super x 150 grain and might check out fed premiums and hornady just to see if there is a big difference between the 3 different manufacturers.

I would look at the Tikka rifles.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

:yeah:   Have had no problems with cheaper rifles, as long as it's a Remington.

Take a look at the Savage Model 11.  Great gun.  Shoots a 1/4 inch group at 100 yds.  Recoil isn't that bad.  I am only 5'9" and 120 lbs. and it is easily manageable for me.

I bought my 12 year old daughter a Remington 700 SPS in .243 and it is lighter than her friend's Savage Axis Youth Rifle.  She can pack the SPS around all day with no problem and it is a tack driver.

My wife absolutley loves her Marlin XS7.  She is only 5'4" so we got her the youth model.  Out the door at Cabellas with a scope it was only 350 bucks.  It really likes my Handloads.
There's a reason they call it hunting, not killing.

Any one of the major brands will do the job. Make sure the stock fits her and she is comfortable shooting it. A good trigger is also important. If it takes two Missouri mules to pull the trigger she will never shoot it well. Take her to a store that carries a lot of rifles and let her handle them until she is comfortable with one.

My wifes first rifle was a Remington modle 7 in .243win. She really grew fond of the Browning A-bolt I use in .270win. We got her an A-bolt in 7mm-08 composite stalker just like mine and she loves it! Here is her 2011 buck she tagged with her A-bolt 7mm-08. Good chance your wife might like the A-bolt composite stalker as well.

I'm surprised none of you guys have went here yet. He wants a 270 for his wife. I've already got a wife I'm  happy with, so I'm not trading this one in. Should probably mention is she a good cook, does she clean the house good, willing to help with the hunting/camping chores.. :chuckle:... Just joking.. I have a Remington 700 that my daughter loves.
