Finding lots of fresh rubs and found a scrape today. Also saw a small buck chasing a doe around this morning.

I've never seen this before...
Saw two whitetail bucks running together as fast as they could. They ran about a mile or so that I could see and probably kept going. They never stopped or looked over their shoulder :chuckle: to look behind them, maybe they were just speed cruising for hot does???

I have seen a ton of scrapes and rubs in 117 and 121. My friend shot a mature buck following a doe on the first day of the season.

Sat in a treestand all day Saturday in 121.  Pretty sure I got hypothermia but the deer were on their feet all day.  Nothing legal though, all small bucks (and no does, which I thought was odd).  Sat again all day yesterday and saw 2 deer, both small non-legal bucks.

I do have a marauding band of longbeards that seem to have laid claim to the ridge my stand is in at my place.  22 of them to be exact, all mature toms.  They were running off all other hens and took to chasing the smaller bucks as well.  Never seen anything like it, watched them do this pretty much all day Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone ever seen this?  I doubt it has any effect on the rut or the bigger bucks.  All the legal bucks I have on camera are still showing up in the dark.

I was out with my wife this morning. We had a hot doe that drug 3 bucks past us at about 30 yards. None of the 3 were shooter's but it was exciting for a few seconds as they came by spaced about 50 feet apart in single file trotting and noses down.

The rut is still early but picking up.  Im guessing that in any given area a few does are coming into heat early.  It only takes one hot doe in an area to get all the bucks fired up.  Im guessing this is the case for the guys seeing signs of the rut, for the rest of you guys that arent seeing it just wait it will be here in the blink of an eye.

Went into an area on Sunday and found 5 scrapes and the start of one rub.  Plan on going in there in the morning and calling and seeing if I can get something to come in.  Have not seen a buck with any of the does that are around.  They have always been by themselves.

I just got back from hunting the first 2 days of the late hunt.  I found fresh scrapes and seen lots of does but the rut was not happening where I was at, however I ended up getting a small buck.

My partner and I have been seeing good sign including fresh scrapes and rubs in 111. I got a dandy 3x3 Sunday evening by taking a stand and watching a small logged over area the last couple hours of the day. Hiked in a cat road about a half mile. We saw another nice buck yesterday morning while driving my pard to his spot. Busted across the road about 20 yards in front of us. Tony got out and looked around but no luck. Will post pics when I get home. My good camera decided Sunday was a good day to refuse to work, so I have to retrieve pics off my cell phone.

Oh and my buck's neck was definitely "swelled up".
