Chiliwist Archery Permit
« on: November 02, 2012, 08:59:55 AM »
I drew one of the 15 tags for this hunt.  I took a nice 4x5 in there many years ago with a muzzie permit.  I have been over there scouting since I got the tag, however I know that this area is really weather dependent for big bucks.  Saw a few nice smaller local bucks, and lots of does.  For those of you that know the area real well would you concentrate your efforts up north in the unit?  That is the area I have been scouting anyway.  It is also the area that I took my nice one back in the early 90's.  Not looking for anyones honey hole, just some ideas.  I keep looking on the map at some of the other areas on the east and south sides of the GMU.... Still thinking my best bet is up in the north side.  Appreciate any info.  Anyone else on here get one of the 15 tags?

I have the tag too. I cant wait... but i wont be over there until the 23rd to start hunting. For some reason the wife wants me around for Thanksgiving :bash: :bash: :chuckle:. I'm heading over there tomorrow for a one day scouting trip and hopefully next sunday as well. I have been in the unit a couple times this year but most of my scouting has been on google earth up to this point. Hopefully it will get cold soon and start pushing those big boy in.

Personally, I'd be looking for this buck or his nearest relative....

I don't have any help for the unit; I'd have to look at the regs to even find where any of those units over there are.  But Dang!  That's a buck!!
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!
