I don't see anything wrong with glassing deer in someones field. Especially in Washington when you can go a full day without seeing one.

As far as road hunting, not sure why it bothers people so much. Ive killed deer sitting, walking, and driving. All my biggest deer were killed driving in the rut. I hunt out of state mostly, and of all my years experience, there is no better way to hunt the rut if you don't know the area. Especially since not everyone has big farms with 30-40 deer per square mile. Most public lands are lucky to have 10 per square mile.

I personally have no interest in sitting up in the stand all day getting ready to kill bob lucky 8 that I watched and fed since birth, but I sure as hell will drive past and look. If you don't like it, to bad. You dont own the deer or the roads. Not everyone, in fact most arent doing it with the intent to kill.
Hey man didn't you kill that one big mofo mule deer and post it here seems like I seen it.
I beleive if so you did admitt to road hunting him? Nice and I beleive some of the purists on here like your deer didn't they not sure I can dig it up but think some on here may have said so.
If I'm wrong then sorry but ya your right it has it's place. I've actually only killed deer out in the woods or fields. all feel free to hunt though not posted or doing anything ilegal. :tup:
Some of the best ways were to cut a track then go after it. Oh well  nice to see someone defend our right to glass. and or road hunt if that's what someone likes.

the thread wasnt originally intended to turn into a bashing of road hunters.  If you wanna road hunt in timberland or other public property, enjoy, I wont have to share the woods with ya.

But for those of you that think its ok to road hunt pvt farmlands, what the hell makes you think thats ok?  How about I drive by your front yard where your kids play and hunt. wtf...really? pleas post your addresses so we can start. If you want property to hunt, move out of the city, or enjoy the lands that are legally available.

Your post was about glassing not road hunting. Glassing deer isn't ilegal even on pvt land. its the others that started a rant on road hunting and all.
As far as I know noone hasn't said tresspassing was ok just glassing and that is what you originally said.

I feel a lot of the angst is that folks living in the country, enjoy the relative peace and quiet, and they enjoy animals visiting their property. Many are obvisouly bothered by increased road traffic occuring around any hunt, and are bothered by any poaching that may occur on their private property.

IMHO, county roads which run through private tracts of land are there for all of us to use. If I see an amazing site on your personal private property and I choose to stop and put my window mount scope on the animals, this is my perogative as a tax payer. Please to not assume that I am intending to break a law.

Are wild game animals the private property owners personal property, or the general publics wildlife?

It appears that some people are talking about poaching and others about glassing a field. Poaching is bad, looking at an awesome animal is just dandy. Don't like it then don't do it. Don't want others doing it to your field then plant some big hedges or build a wall. It is pretty simple if you think about. If I see an animal anywhere I am, whether that be the county or the middle of town I watch it out of pure curiosity and appreciation for the animal.

In the end,

Poaching =  :bdid:

Watching awesome wildlife =  :tup:

Yes, but if you just assume nobody is breaking the law....then the lawbreakers get a pass.  It is a pita to stop what you are doing every time you hear a car slowing down or stopping out by the road.
So, even if you're not in a rural area...say downtown puketropolis and you hear a car pull up in your driveway or in the street in front of your house...then hear car doors, people talking, the dogs barking, etc.; do you check it out or just assume it is just people up to lawful activities.  So, when you check these things they could be the meter reader, a survey crew, long-lost buddies, magazine salespeople, mormons, tweekers casing the joint, mailman, hunters....and on and on.  In most people's cases this might be a once a week occurence so not really a huge disruption.  I think I deal with this maybe 2-3 times a week--no huge inconvenience.  If you don't keep checking then the tweekers/poachers eventually get their window of opportunity--missing gas cans, lawn mower is gone, firewood disappears, animal gets shot in your yard, car gets prowled, neighbor gets burglarized.  Now during deer season imagine you have cars stopping 10-12 times a day--it gets old having to break from your project to have to go check and see what all the commotion is about outside.  I still think the OP might want to just plant some kind of privacy screen along that fence line.
