The managers setting permit levels assume an estimated rate of non-usage. It could actually cause a higher success ratio than desired if everyone hunted that buys or draws a tag. I think this is a non-issue.

In South Dakota you get a doe tag with your reg tag. Personally I save a doe. More does = more deer. Never can be enough deer for me.

I have zero interest of shooting a doe. That's just me. Does nothing for me and the amount of meat you get isn't worth it. Call me green, but that's how I see it. I only believe in shooting mature bucks that have had a chance to live.

I should add I wouldnt actually out in for a special permit to save a doe.

I simply wouldn't put in for a permit I didn't plan on using. However, if life stuff comes along and you are not able to use it then so be it.....S happens.

me personally i think only youth and seniors or disabled guys should be able to shoot a doe, guys that can get around and put in the effort for a buck then thats good enough, there is no way that any land in this state is at its carrying capacity of doe, i know you cant eat antlers, well who in their right mind hunts without visions of a monster buck of any type walkn out in front of ya where you can get a whack at him, as for permits for antlerless save those for youth and disabled or seniors

I agree with both sides in this. I can see it from both sides. I do like management and love the doe tags for this. Heck I had 2 clients with doe tags and 1 myself. All 3 were filled with does that did not have fawns or were not breeding anymore. I can also see not feeling a tag if the numbers are down in some area's.

This is exactly what the wolf huggers do, buy up all the wolf hunting permits and sit on them thinking they are saving a wolf.

So Idaho made them OTC for anyone then close the season when the quota is met.



In this case however, you think you're saving a doe.

To each their own. You dont want to fill your tag its no skin off my nose. Personally i love nothing better for table fare then a nice big fat doe or cow.
