358 winchester
« on: December 10, 2012, 07:27:38 PM »
G'day all from Australia
I've only just joined up, first post!! I found this site by accident, someone here was enquiring  about 358 Winchester, my favorite caliber. I have a custom L579 Sako, I use 308 Lapua palmer cases with the small rifle primer, you can’t hurt them ADI 2206H, 225gn Accubond I have them going out at 2640fps, love it. I also use 225 Sierra game kings at 2420 fps, they don’t hold together as well but they still kill with authority. The 358 win is a great, under rated caliber, easy to load, easy on the shoulder and kills with very little meat damage. Handles everything this country has to offer including huge scrub bulls.
Regards
Bob

I don't get to take many photo's, I have enough trouble carring my rifle & meat out. This was a nice yearling for the freezer. I'm not a trophy hunter, I eat what I shoot.

Welcome to this site!  Yes , those 358's, or anything on the 308 platform are great!  How hard would it be for a visiting American to hunt Oz, in a do it yourself fashion?

Oh, on a side note, just had Vegemite 4 weeks ago, friend from Oz brought it over.   I do not understand how folks can eat that for breakfast, and I even had beer to wash it down with  :chuckle:
