late season winston archery
« on: December 12, 2012, 12:27:31 PM »
have been hunting hard early and late season got on a cow/elk (exciting) for the first time last weekend but to much reprod to get a ethical shot i felt good about taking ran into her off the 1100 rd hiking around. with the snow and cold temps and my last chance this saturday anyone have a good road to hike off of and look around and i take it the elk move down because of the snow any help would be great.  with the temp changes and still learning the elk think my original spots i dont think will work out so well if they do move down because of the snow what are some good lower rds i guess is the question.

Was in Winston all day.. got itnto elk at first light 1 5x5 and 6 cows. spotted them across the clear cut but couldn't close in. Then at about noon saw two guys chasing after three bulls...dunno if they didn't have Binos or if they didn't know it was cow only..anyways it was a good day. Also saw about 50 head on the drive in just before cedar crk road.

:)  Anytime you can get into them its a good day, heck just being out there is a good day, even if you don't let the air out of something.  Any snow?  Thinking of driving up next week to scout around for the January Modern cow

barely, it snowed off and on most the day but nothing ever stuck (this was at around 1000 ft) but I think there will be plenty of snow by January
