What makes you able bodied hunters so special ? I can't hike at all. They should give ALL disabled hunters access to YOUR locked gates and allow us NON able bodied hunters to ride our ATVs behind ALL locked gates. . We get the worst areas to hunt that are supposed to be an area where we will have a good chance to get that deer or elk, or whatever the WDFW allows us to hunt. Stop your whining, you guys aren't special in my book, just a bunch of cry babies.

So you believe that everyone that has a disable placard is a lard a$$ and should just be put to sleep  because they are what you said to lazy to do something about their health?  WOW, to hear some of these statements makes me hope that for your sake you don't end up disabled and wanting my help when you cant get out of your chair or from off of the floor 

No if you review what I said is Here in WA the state gives out the handicap placards to those that are only handicapped because they are lard azzes. There are numerous folks that do deserve a handicap placard and the privelege of being able to park closer to the door of a store and the use of the handicapped scooters BUT there are one hell of a lot of handicap placards that are given to folks that are not handicapped except for being over weight by 200 to 300 pounds as far as me ever being handicapped I managed to over come polio as a kid and it irks the sh*t out of me to see those that get the placard that don't deserve them

I'm still not clear on why the gates couldn't just be open through November for all the hunting seasons, and then closed as of December 1st. That would stop the tribal overharvesting and the poaching that happens in the winter months. So tell me again why the entire area would need to be shut down prior to December 1st?

I guess if the gate are closed for everyone then no one can be accused of discrimination of any one user group!

I supported and will continue to support gated roads, if you really want it then get off of you A#$ and out of your truck and go get it.  That's hunting, not road killing.

 What about those who are not hunting such as  4 wheelers, ATV'ers, Snowmobilers?? Although more of these folks hunt, than do "Lock em out!" greenies!
 How about just better enforcement. We are not the only users of these roads and need to understand that . What % of the population hunts again?

i am with ya huntphool on all of it, and like i said before i am a disabled hunter got the placard and everything, i can even get special access to places in the northeast, its called sullivan lake and a couple other areas and that is just my point, for you disabled guys, they have places where disabled guys get to drive in and everyone else has to walk, i dont hear those guys bitchn about it, i wish they would gate every damn road in the hunting areas off, if you want to take the wife and kids in the woods to look at animals and good ole mother nature then get your butts out and walk, i am disabled from the military, if i hunt hard on saturday then i am laid up on sunday, sometimes i just grit through it and do shorter hunts, the point is with all the wolf re-introduction, poaching, hard winters and whatever else gets thrown at the deer and elk populations then we as sportsman should be thinkn about them instead of ourselves, it kinda irritates me that there are so many selfish ass people out there that do not take that into account, i also think that you should only get to hunt every other year, if your social security number ends in and even number you hunt even years and odd years are for odd numbers. if we want animals to hunt in the future then *censored* needs to be done in a hurry for are kids...it would be sweet if the natives would fallow suit and do the same thing for their tribes. i dont want to hear that tribes need deer and elk meat to survive for the winter, we all know its a crock of crap, at this day and age with all the racism and crap, we should really all be treated equal, if natives want to hunt on non reservation lands then you must fallow the same rules as the rest of us, if you dont like it then hunt on the res. i know that some tribes do not abuse their rights, i know a couple of natives that live in sequim that find it pretty disheartening at what some natives do....we all know that whether non native or native it only takes a few bad ones to spoil the whole damn bag

Did you ever once consider the that maybe part of the reason they are over weight is due to the fact they are disabled? 
Let's see, disabled people are fat due to the fact they are unable to get out and walk a mile due to the lack of oxygen that may be caused by some pulmonary disease.  Your line of thinking doesn't make any sense, maybe you should put a straw up your nose and see what it is like to try and breath while walking any distance then come back and tell us how you feel.

Enough said,  to jack the thread it is comments like this that unless you try and put yourself in the other persons situation you truly don't understand or have experienced what others have to deal with on a day to day bases.  Where is my ignore button I'm done with this.

Same song and dance every year, nothing is going to change! I see the same rig same individuals head up the valley past my house to the imediate winter range and kill a truck load of deer and drive out. I had a late archery chiwawa tag this year and watched the same rig shoot two bucks off the road with a rifle when we were hunting, same happens in the entiat unit time and time again. I guess my questions are: how many rutted out deer can a person  eat? Whens enough enough? And do they honestly feel they are not abusing their rights? Locking gates isnt going to solve the problem, just compound it. In my opinion
if the tribes use ancestry rights to subsistance hunt, then they should hunt like their ancesters did with a long bow and a horse. The way the deer herd looks now, if it keeps going like its going the deer herd will be next to nothing in a year or two. Maybe thats the plan?

Okay so what is a viable plan? Closing these areas down to "no motorized vehicles" won't help......really?

 Bitching and complaining is useless unless you can come up with a solution. It kills me that some of you guys whine about this and that, yet when someone suggests something all you do is try to rationalize why it won't work, why it shouldn't be done. Why cant you, Bobcat and others look for reasons or ways that it would work or alternative solutions?

 Few here would argue that there isn't a problem in a few of these areas, so why do most sit back and accept it, why not look for solution rather than sitting back and doing nothing except complaining.

Sounds very similar to our lovely government officials....

lock all the gates year round and the only hunters that get a key are the truly disabled. and by that i mean wheelchair bound or things like that. i dont think disabled should include those who cant stay out of the fridge an get a permit cause they are not willing to exercise. sorry if i offended anyone. just an opinion.

I never seen it in this point of view, I am so with you on this.

i honestly think that they should all be locked year around, if your disabled then apply for a key, otherwise walk in only, people who poach generally want to do it close to their rig for a fast get away, so make it where if they are gonna poach they are gonna be seen, i am a disabled hunter, but i still do my best to walk wherever i go, when i cant any longer then i am done hunting, and if i cant enjoy being in the woods then what exactly is the point of hunting....people can say for the meat all they want, its cheaper to go buy beef.....for about 90% of us i hope, its for the experience and the fun just being in the hills....poachers need to have alot stiffer penalties thrown at them, make it soooooo bad that no-one in their right mind would think about poaching

But now after reading other comments, If we get way back deep in the woods, it is nice to be able to go grab the quad when we need it for dragging a deer or elk.
