I think the only thing the black gold has thats better than spot hogg is pin brightness, everything else goes to spot hogg. On the black golds ive owned (surge and rush) the pin guard wasnt square to the mounting bracket, they were tilted down and left. The spot hoggs are almost as bright, much tougher and are better quality to me. They are also perfectly square. Warranties are about the same, maybe an edge to Black Gold.

How did you like your Black Gold "Surge". I have been thinking about getting the 5 pin version.  I have. Spotty Hogg 5 pin wrapped and am thinking about replacing it.  Did you like the "inch wheel adjustment" did it work as advertised. This is the key feature that I am looking at and why I want to try something new.  Also I got the small pins on my Spot Hog and want bigger pins. Also am thinking the black gold with the inch wheel would be much easier to adjust.

Spot Hogg!  It is the ONLY sight that will grace any of my bows.  Heck, if a fumbling 300 pound guy like me can use a Spot Hogg to break a fall on the ice and still come out completely unscathed and dead on, it has got my vote for durability.  Even with as much hunting that I do in really heavy brush, I have never broken a pin on my Spot Hogg and have had the same one for 15-16 years.

The wheels for the micro adjust always come loose and make a loud buzz sound. And you cant tighten them enough to prevent this without moving the pin in the process. On the one I had I removed the wheels altogether and adjusted it normally. I now use spot hogg. They are a much better sight for the money. They are actually very easy to adjust. Once the pins are set they will not move. They are plenty bright also, I can see every one of my pins after legal shooting light.
