Response from Liz Pike. I think I like her even though it appears no one read the email I sent!

Dear John,

Thanks for contacting my office regarding the important protection of our Washington State Constitution and specifically our second amendment rights.  Be assured, as your State Representative, I will be watchful for and strongly oppose any pieces of legislation that may be introduced that would infringe on any part of your second amendment rights.

Those who would introduce such a bill are not interested in curbing violence, but taking advantage of the violent behavior of deranged individuals in order to disarm law abiding Americans. I will stand with my colleagues in the House to protect our Constitution.

Sincerely,
Liz

my responces so far
Count on it.

I'm the second co-sponsor on this bill.

Persevero,

Thanks for contacting my office regarding the important protection of our Washington State Constitution and specifically our second amendment rights.  Be assured, as your State Representative, I will be watchful for and strongly oppose any pieces of legislation that may be introduced that would infringe on any part of your second amendment rights.

Thanks for the email.  As a co-sponsor and co-author of the bill I wholeheartedly support it.  As you may already know, in 2008, I attracted attention from all over the United States by sponsoring HJM 4008 that acknowledged that states can protect its citizens from federal legislation that violates the U.S. Constitution or our WA State Constitution using the principle of nullification.  During the last four years, I have worked to refine this legislation and to share this freedom agenda with as many as possible.  (see "Freedom Agenda WA" on Facebook)

I am aware that there could be a slew of gun control bills coming and he is prepared to argue against them on the floor of the House.  I am depending upon the informed citizenry, however, to let the body of the Legislature know how they feel about gun control and, hopefully, be available to testify at committee hearings.  It was just a couple weeks ago that a Democrat legislator withdrew a gun control bill after receiving a blizzard of messages of objection from concerned citizens.

Thank you very much for your letter and please consider receiving my regular updates while the Legislature is in session (see below).  You can also follow me by checking in on his legislative web site at: http://www.leg.wa.gov/house/representatives/Pages/shea.aspx .

"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

This is good.  The sponsors of the bill must know that we are in their corner.  The Judiciary Committee needs to know the people of Washington want this bill to pass.

Please get your family, friends and colleagues to write in support of this Bill.

Pass this on.

My rep just sent me her canned anti violence blah, blah, blah letter.  This was my response to her, it probably won't make a difference as she, obviously, does not represent me or my family.   :bash:

Dear Rep. Lytton,

Thank you for the reply.  I believe that mental health access should be the primary concern of State and Federal politicians rather than gun control.  If you look at the cities with the most gun violence, two stand out, Chicago and WA DC, both of these cities have extensive, and possibly some of the most strict gun control in the country.  Has it worked in these cities?  I would hazard a "No" would be the appropriate answer.

While tragedies at places like Sandy Hook are deplorable, these instances almost all have two similarities, the guns were not obtained at gun shows or from private sales (they were stolen, currently illegal to do in our country) and these shooting were done in "gun-free" zones, where obviously, only the criminal will have guns since it is, again, already against the law for them to be there with a gun.  So, I ask you, is the solution more gun control?  Or, is it enforcing the existing laws, applying appropriate penalties, getting obviously troubled people the help they need, and allowing law-abiding citizens to protect themselves AND others by exercising their 2nd amendment rights wherever they so chose to go?

Please support the Constitution of the United States (as, I believe, you swore to do) and ALL of its Amendments in the spirit in which they were written.

Thank you for your time,

Thanks for the bill alert and message to copy. Sent emails to my legislators. This is the second email to them today, the first was in regards to HB 1588 which would require background checks for all sales of firearms.
