Just Finished Scoping A Remington 722 .257 Roberts
«

Picked up this little unmolested beauty in .257 Roberts last year. All original all the way down to not having studs implanted for swivels and sling, which is pretty hard to find in one of these old Remingtons. As a bonus, it also has some pretty nice wood as most were pretty much yawners in the stock department. Just a couple handling marks on the wood. Mfg. date was March 1952.
Finally found a vintage scope I wanted to put on it. Just finished up with the mounting. It now wears a vintage Denver made Redfield Widefield 2x7 with Accu-Trac. Looks pretty good. Can't wait to try it out. Apparently these 722's were tack drivers.

Beautiful rifle!
I have a 722 in 222 rem with a Lyman 10x wolverine on it. My stock is not that nice but I did have sling studs put in mine.

Not sure about the 722, but I had a 721, and it could shoot. Wasn't much to look at, but I didn't baby it either.

Nice rifle. I've been shooting a 257 Roberts since 1980. A great caliber you'll like it.

hit ebay for an old refield mount and rings, 700 short action one piece or either two piece should work, even bwetter would be a Conetrol, the new ones are the same as the old.

Replaced a pair of Redfield and Leupold bases and rings off of two Remington 700 Classics with DNZ one piece mounts. Decided to change out the Rem722 and use one of those sets. Was going to use the Redfields which were gloss, but opted for the matte Leupolds. The upside down screw in on the Redfied rings is just stupid.
Anyway...a comparison shot. before (DNZ 1 piece) and after (Leupold 2 piece) I like it better.

There's no "apparently" about it! These are tack drivers. I have never had one but the guys that do won't give them up. Good luck with it and show us a target. Come over and shoot a mule deer this fall with that thing

Great setup and cartridge! I like the period-correct scope too. Maybe not too period correct scope mounts, but a guy has to improvise from time to time
