I would sure think so. Winter is only half over and more snow is to come. So I can't imagine the elk heading for higher ground already. I was thinking of taking my kids over there too sometime this month.

True but I thought I remembered someone stating a couple weeks ago many had already left and just want information from someone up there before I make the trip

There was a thread but you can also call the visitor center and ask for a head count of cows and branched bulls.  Also ask about the big horn sheep.

we were there last weekend, no snow in sight and there were still at least 200 elk down low.
they aren't as close to the fence so binos would help.  but there were some real nice bulls still, one 6 point that would have gone 340/350

As others have said there were still quite a few around last weekend, but not as many at the actual feed stations. Drove around and saw almost as much as a month ago, but the kids didn't like it as much because they had to use the binos. I liked more cause it almost felt like hunting.  Don't know how far you want to drive, but the e-burg feed lot had a much higher concentration of elk. The number of large bulls was the highest I have ever seen there. I took this pic last weekend just before they fed about 8am.

Wow that is a really good picture.  I hope to swing in there next week and take a look.  Always fun to watch elk at those stations.

Went today it was great, warm beautiful day and the kids got a tour.  53 branch bulls and 6 spikes was the count with just over 700 elk.  I would have only guessed about 300

Winter half over? You must not get over here very often.  Almost spring here.  Snow is all gone.  The elk have been leaving joe watt.

First day of winter is December 21st. Winter is 3 months long. When I said that, it was almost exactly half over.

I just talked to my dad you volunteers driving the tour truck. He said they are feeding about 600 head. The number is dropping as the snow melts off.
