Sand Shrimp bait?
« on: March 05, 2013, 10:43:34 AM »
While harvesting clams the other day I collected several sand shrimp, thought Id try them out as bait for steelhead.  Any suggestions on cure method or should I keep them alive as long as possible?  Right now there just hanging out in a jar of seawater out side.

They are best used fresh within a day or two.  They generally don't keep well.  You can freeze them in salt water, but they get pretty soft and there are better options.  They are very effective when really fresh (for salmon too).

If you put them in a container witha damp paper towel it will extend their "shelf life" a couple days. One of the best baits for steelhead imo.
