Hoof Rot
« on: March 07, 2013, 03:52:08 PM »
Talked to a guy from the Pe Ell area yesterday.
Said he saw 6 Elk near his place, all with hoof rot.
One didn't even have a hoof, just a stump.

I hope they get to the bottom of this really soon.

I have a friend in a local conservation organization who is researching hoof rot issues via the department of agriculture. Apparently it is not safe to eat cattle with hoof rot, which leads me to wonder why WDFW has so far only suggest a "sniff test" for elk.
Much more needs to be done, and soon.

Because it is not hoof rot!  That is why they are using the term hoof disorder or hoof deformity.

What are preference points?
How much are they asking for a permit to shoot a hoof rott elk?
I'm assuming they tell you specifically where to go shoot one?

I was in Boistfort today an saw about 60 head. 3 sets of 20 together. The one group was only about 30 feet of the road and at least 15 were limping. 2 of them were walking on three legs, wouldn't put the fourth leg down even to run. Makes a guy sick to see that.
Don't forget your spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch.
