Yote Hunting around Cle Elum/Eburg
« on: March 27, 2013, 08:33:06 AM »
So me and a couple buddies are having hunting withdrawls, so we decided to go do some yote hunting this friday/saturday.  We will be hunting from around easton to kittitas.  we will be split up into two groups and be hunting complete opposite sides.  One day i will be hunting around kittitas/eburg area and next day around easton/cle elum area.  So I was just wondering if anybody can help me with a couple general public areas  Willing to even go north up on blewitt.  I know almost all the dnr land north of 90 around kittitas up to 97. Dont know much of any public land south of 90 except for elk heights.  And nothing around cle elum/easton.  I got all the maps i need to help out.  I will be primarly calling.  I wanna get a leg up on my compition since there are some cabelas gift cards on the line.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Feel free to pm me if you don't wanna post on the board.

I would stay east of Cle Elum. I can't think of much around Easton. Snow could be an issue if you try to get up in the higher elevations on the National Forest. You might try the Teanaway valley, but watch out for the extra large coyotes.

I think you'd be better off further east. Try the Wenas and LT Murray Wildlife Areas. You can pick up the green dot maps at the WDFW office in Eburg.

Although it may be even better to concentrate on the area you already know, north of Ellenburg, especially since you only have two days to hunt.

Another thing to think about- you could also try for cougars. There are plenty of them around Cle Elum, Easton, Elk Heights, Taneum Creek areas. You would need to call the cougar hunting hotline to find out if the season is still open. It's open to March 31 if the quota has not been reached yet.

Thanks bobcat.  I totally let the cougar season slip my mind.  I will call the hotline and make sure it is still open.  And for those big dogs "no comment"

Had a coyote come into a hen turkey call last spring during turkey season in the Teanaway

I saw a pretty large coyote in the taneum last year. Had a bunch howling up there too.

Alot of the LT Murry is closed until May 1st for winter elk range. Most of the national forest is closed to wheeled vehicles. Could hunt with a snow mobile though.
