Drano or wind river springers?
« on: April 10, 2013, 03:26:38 PM »

Has anybody fished the wind or drano yet for springers? I know of a guide who picked one up last Sunday and two on Monday. I'm just curious I was thinking of heading down this next week.

Its way to early. Even though Bob B picked a couple up like you said!  ;)

Back in the day we never started until April 25th or there were 5000 a day going over the dam. Now it seems everyone runs when dam counts hit 1000 a day for at least 5 days.

Bob is one of the best on that pond so its no surprise. Avarage joe would be lucky to mimick him.

Just my opinion.

I want to see at least 1k for a week before I want to start going. Heck in the last week there has only been like 100 fish a day average.

Last year we started picking them up pretty consistent from the 12 of April. I like to go down even if it is a bit slower and avoid all the crowds. Then when they all leave we will go back and fish up to and into June and still pick some up.

Ya gotta admit Bob has it dialed to be catchin though! Coarse he is the only boat there. Im surprised to see he is booking trips this early. But he is the master down there.

Bob knows his fish and hits them well. Yet only 50-100 fish a day heading over is not enough for me to spend 30.00 in gas and I am a lot closer then a lot of guys!

I can understand that for sure but I still fill you should wait a bit. Say in the last week there is 700 fish over. There is a lot of water between the dam/ wind and drano for 700 fish to be in. I am ready for freash spring to but not worth it yet IMHO.

You guys don't have all that many fisheries close by.  I would be fishing.   :twocents:

I guess if you like fishing :chuckle: I like caching more then fishing and for 30.00 in fuel each trip I can buy a couple lobster tails :chuckle: Fishing has to be good to make me want to go :chuckle:

Bob proved there are fish to catch.  Being close, you might as well learn the fishery so you can put fish in the boat at non-peak times.

Don't need a boat to fish Drano or to learn the fishery, better things to do than spend all day for just 1 or 2 fish.

Don't tell the 50,000 guys that are pounding the Columbia right now that it ain't worth it unless you can get more than 1 or 2 fish.  The river would be empty!
