They don't get much bigger than this. He will be in the top 5 I bet. What a monster. Thanks Vek for the heads up. This thing is amazing, and I like the photo too, not the distorted one like that other monster.

I don't think there is a story with it, but you can go to pristineventures.com and click on their forum, it is under "hog of a moose" or something like that. Says the moose could be #4 in the books, 71" wide.
Larry Bartlett does a great job putting his clients on game. He is who I used for my moose hunt this year.

the antler spread myself, and it was 71" straight across. The palms on this bruiser were wavy near the tips, which i find beautiful. The denseness of the palms was over 1-1/4" thick out by the tips (heavy, heavy antler set), and the bases were well over 15"...Green score put him around #4 B&C

The fee is for Larry to give you information on a specific area and will make you promise not to give out your trip details to specific head waters, take outs etc.... He has several really good books out there for the do it yourself-er and I highly recommend them before you venture North... He will provide you maps, I believe and coordinate specifics on logistics. Although, I believe he guides, for this service he is not guiding nor transporting, nor outfitting you with any other items other than informational and where to get resources. It is a great kick start to someone that doesn't know where to begin. Nothing but great stuff to state about him, never used him but didn't need to as a former resident, but from folks that I know that know him and meeting him at Sporting Shows he is a genuine nice guy and very helpful.. Pristine Outdoors is great web site, some on it are a bit on the "I know everything" but Larry is just a good guy. I have had discussions with him on thread there where he stood up for the little guys and blasted big guide services for their antics and disrespect for unguided hunters. He provides a great op for folks that are Leary about making such a task on their own. But one thing to remember as Bone pointed out before there are numerous places to go if you do your own homework. Prices for everything else have risen, fuel, raft rentals, aircraft charges for drop offs and p/u's so take that into consideration before you go along with the success rates for unguided Nonresidents... Versus guided and or operations like Larry's. And know what to expect from AK weather, I am not meaning to sound like a butt or something, but so many times we'd see folks from the lower 48 not prepared for the weather and climate and my friend that flies helos for search and rescue has picked up many ill prepared personnel that just didn't make it.. We'd see folks in jeans, wind breakers, crappy tents, ALICE packs, cheap back pacs, tennis shoes and cotton sleeping bags at staging areas for remote flights and you just got to look and go, Oh crap - another that might not make it back....
