BIG SW WA Non-Typical Blacktail - Taken by Kevin Armstrong
« on: October 08, 2008, 03:14:05 PM »
We've all been waiting to lay eyes on this buck, rumored to be a new world record.  Not to take the wind out of your sails, but he's no world record.  But he is the buck of a lifetime for anyone who knows how difficult it can be to tag a mature Columbian Blacktail.  Not only is Kevin's deer a mature specimen, he scores pretty well as a Non Typical.  Kevin harvested this deer on 9-7-08 in SW WA.  The best part was his 9 year old son was with him, and even helped his dad close the deal.  He gave me permission to share his success with Hunting-Washington.com.

Here's a summary of some stats on this buck:

Scorable Points
Left = 10
Right = 12

Inside spread = 20 3/8"
Outside spread = 23 4/8"

Non Typical inches = 23 0/8"

Totals
Spread Credit = 20 3/8"
Left antler = 61 4/8"
Right antler = 66 7/8"

Subtotal = 148 6/8"
Deductions = 12 1/8"

add non-typ = 23 0/8"

Final Score = 159 5/8"

Very nice.

I've also got a big SW Wa Columbian Blacktail to my name, and I'm very interested to know where you got it?   ;)

I understand the desire for discreetness, but would asking for the unit name be too much?  :P

A dandy buck, nevertheless.  Congrats.

That thing is a Hoss. Awesome looking deer. Your buddy has a once in a lifetime memory with his son.
