LaPush - no Neah Bay Halibut and Lings
« on: May 19, 2013, 04:53:01 PM »
Me and original "Huntwa" headed to Lapush to meet up with Robodad and his family friends from Wisconsin on Fri evening.  Was pretty rough when we awoke in the am and report showed it was going to get worse.  We decided to run to Neah Bay that morning and fish the more protected waters, so I followed Robodad around as I never been to Neah Bay before....  Robodad slayed them with 5 for 5 on Halibut in a few hrs, we had to struggle to get the last one to the boat.  Afterwards we decided needed some more freezer space filled so we explored some of the areas for Lings, a few passes, we had our limits of lings...  Small halibuts, but still better than fish sticks from Safeway...  Great fun trip.  Big hats off to Robodad for letting stay at the rv again...

Nice work! We're gonna do Neah Bay thur-sat but the forecast was grim so we stayed in area 6. The weather never seemed to materialize but we got our fish all the same.

What did you use for bait? Some of the bunny huggers cycling on the side of the narrow winding highway?

It was a pleasure showing you guys around a little bit, I was a bit disappointed we couldn't stick around to locate some bottomfish but the guys I had on board were just not into it at all and were freezing which I can't understand since they are from Wisconsin and had 12" of snow just a couple weeks ago, seems our cold is a bit different then theres !!

This was thursday out 20+ miles in LaPush and you can tell the guy on the left isn't really happy about the whole thing !! Its not easy to smile after blowing chunks for 5 hours eh !!

Good thing I brought a spare prop along !! Spun the hub on our way back in from the "C" closure area, luckly in happened within a few miles of the boat launch and not 30 miles out there !!

Weather picked up just enough in LaPush where I thought we would be better off staying inside the strait for Saturday, turns out it was a good call as we were limited in short order on Halibut including a double which was quite interesting. Had a blast and the family will go home with a big cooler full of fish and Cohoho now has another favorite spot to go fishing so it all worked out !!!

Yea - I guess you can see if Michael gets the Roster Tattoo...  lol :bdid:

For their disabilities they were surely troopers, the early morning rising, all day in the boat, etc, and always with a smile.   My hates off to your Mom and your family for being a care giver/foster Mom for these guys.  Truly inspirational for sure...

I agree, them guys were shivering and puking and still didn't complain. Thank you so much for dragging your boat out and offering to take a couple folks if needed, It was a bit crowded at times in mine and not everyone could fish at the same time so that helped out a bunch !!

As for Mike !!  :chuckle:
