spend more time behind spot scope before you burn boot leather when not needed...

I don't plan on spending until I have a game plan. It's soo early I haven't even made it over there yet. Probably one of these weekends in july.
I'd get over there soon if you are planning on scouting, with this weather it wouldn't surprise me if they started locking gates to avoid a repeat of last years fires.

I'm a planner and I have to plan. I would go over there this weekend, but I have other things PLANNED. lol I will get there soon. Thanks for the warning though. It's much appreciated.

Most Entiat roads don't have gates on them?? :dunno:  The forest service could definitely post the roads "do not enter" but that would be the first time I have ever seen that.  You should be fine to scout throughout the summer unless there is active fire.  There will be a burn ban real soon if they don't have one right now.  Call the forest service before you go to see what the burn status is.

They closed and gated roads right next door in Swakane last year while we were in there hunting sheep.

Not to thread jack, but what roads did they gate?  Most of the swakane roads don't have gates either.  The only gates I know of on the Swakane are on private access roads that are always gated due to the orchards / local homeowners (I personally think it is bogus).....and one that is never closed, but could be, on Derby.  No gates on all the other access roads to even close?? :dunno:

Not wanting to start an argument...just curious what roads were gated?

Derby was gated and other roads were blocked with manned vehicles, technically not "gated" but probably more effective! :dunno:

Yes, they did have manned vehicles blocking a ton of roads last year when the fires were active.  I am pretty sure they will not shut it down as long as there are no active fires.

Thanks

:chuckle: Dude, if you already knew this then why are you asking me for specifics,

what roads did they gate?  Most of the swakane roads don't have gates either.

Argument you want...Argument you get!!! :chuckle:

You said you wouldn't be surprised if they started "locking gate."  This confused me as I know most to the roads don't even have gates on them to lock??  Trust me, they won't post paid employees on roads due to weather alone....If there is no fire the roads will be open.     ;)

Thanks Johnny, and I have this argument with my wife all the time. Just the other day she said that she needed her oil changed, and I said ok. However today she asked why I hadn't changed the oil and I said because she didn't ask me to. Technically, I was right. I need to invest in a better bed for the spare bedroom. haha

Went and scouted the unit twice last weekend while I was on the family camping trip! There was no gates locked or many to be seen. There was a lot of water still on the ground and alot of the unit was still very green. I wanted to get more familiarized with the roads again since its been a few years since I have been there, so I didn't do a ton of glassing. We saw deer both times but only a couple spikes and does. Plan on going back around the late modern hunt and really look for  some deer.
