The year I had the 2x2 tag the only big 2 point i could find was over 30" and his main beam out out and up rather than out and forward ( kind of hard to explain) and he had little 5 or 6 inch times that came straight forward so when he looked at you he only looked like a spike. The guy that had control of the land he was on wouldn't let me go in and shoot him. One of those really dude you nor anybody you hunt with can shoot him so all he is going to do is continue to breed and spread bad genetics.

dang.... that sucks woulda been nice to take him and his genetics out of there . and woulda made a pretty sweet mount  :chuckle:

that 2 point is *censored* !

 :yeah:

I always wondered why you would want one of the 2x2 only special mule deer tags they give out.  That answers my question.  Sure would be an interesting rack to have.
I see a few big two's every year.

He didn't break 160", but he had the biggest body of the bucks I've killed.  I am sure that he is at least 5, maybe older.  He was actually bigger the year before, but was a 3X4.  Will be releasing the video here in the next couple months, so "Like" us at https://www.facebook.com/SolvidSystems or subscribe at https://www.youtube.com/user/SolvidSystems

I would have to shoot all of the deer on here is given the chance...and a tag that would allow it.  Those big two points are great but not legal during late archery where I hunt.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Thats why each muley unit should have a couple late tags dedicated to a two point restriction.

That is a great idea, you could give out 10-15 tags, have only the people that are interested in taken out the 2point gene in the units they hunt.  Success would maybe be 10-20%, so 1 or 2 deer. I see quite a few 2pts in my late hunt but only 1 or 2 that I would like to take out.  I am thinking most with that tag would pass on the dink 2pts, if you are hunting those late hunts generally you a looking for a masher or something with character.

I like the idea a lot.

i would like to see it, but limit it to 2 tags per unit and make it a youth hunt, give the kids a chance to take part in a trophy hunt at a young age and get hooked, and since a adult would obviously need to be there it would also show adults that they don't necessarily need to have a tag in their own pockets to go out hunting and have a good time.

The only bad part is you run into people who don't shoot the mature two points that are the bad ones to have. They will shoot any old two point. We watched a guy shoot a little dink two point last year clearly not a mature two, bad part is he only wounded it an it crossed a fence into ground he didn't have permission and instead of going and asking for permission to retrieve the wounded animal he just left. They would almost have to turn these into a can hunt to monitor what two points are being taken or do like some places for moose make a width minimum.

You explain what the tag is intended for, no different than educating cougar hunters the difference between male and female.

No different than permit holders shooting young 3 and 4 points.

They do explain it. The send a big letter saying only shoot mature two points it even has pictures for the people who don't want to read. It is different than the people who shoot immature three or four points if you only give one or two tags. Say those two people shoot immature two points then what's the good in giving that tag out when the purpose of the tag is to get rid of bad genes.
