What is your favorite 1 or 2 night hike in WA?
« on: July 22, 2013, 06:14:22 PM »
Planning on a 2 night hike somewhere in Washington over Labor Day weekend. Although I am from Seattle, I have spent most of my time outdoors on the east side of the State. I am looking for recommendations and reasons (pros or cons) for any 1 or 2 night hikes in Washington but am leaning towards something in the Olympics or elsewhere near the coast. There will be two people and a dog on the hike. We will be packing a tent as well. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

I would say Tubal Cain Mine, just outside of Sequim in the Buckhorn Wilderness, or Elwah, just outside of Port Angeles in the National Park.  2 of my favorites.

Horseshoe Basin is a great one. I tend to drive around until I find a nice area with no paths around and go explore it. Always nice to see new places and you never know what you'll find.

Longs Pass, Ingalls Lake, Esemerelda Basin, Teannnaway River. Or there about. Awesome, around around Labor Day weekend.

I use to love to hike from White Mountain to Barnaby Buttes, Bald MT., Edds, back to Bald, Snow Peak then on to Sherman Peak.  It is not a tough hike but some great country to scout!

With a dog, I'd say Marmot Pass (Olympics).  Without a dog, Enchanted Valley (Olympics).

Yep, Asgard Pass, up in the Enchantments. Surreal terrain. Only problem is you have to apply for a permit back in January...

Indian Heaven Wilderness is one of my favorite places.  Bring a fishing pole and bug spray.
