360 is going to be a stretch IMO, you might send rafflemule a PM to see if he can hook you up with someone that knows the peninsula area. His buddies have helped auction tag winners in the past and know the west side very well. :twocents:
Thank you!!! I put the 360 my husband laughed at me too!! Kinda excited for him, and me too! I love hunting, We normally hunt Archery, and any Elk with a bow is a trophy, thats what my husband has drilled into my head.  :o But we want the big bad ole boy, Wall hanger for sure!! Thanks for any information you have, we have heard a lot about White River and Nooksack, going to go pick up some maps and see what we can find out. Both of those are a long ass why from home, so scouting won't be as easy. Dang

Congrats that will be an awesome hunt. Like others have said 360 on the westside is a tall order. One thing to consider is do you want to hunt a true coastal roosevelt (which is the toughest big bull of all to kill) or do you not care about that and just want the best scoring bull you can get and go after a cascade roosevelt? That is what I would first decide and then I could decide where to hunt and its purely personal. Myself I would go for a true coastal bull in the brushy jungle they call home keying on Sept 25-Oct 5 but a realistic trophy bull even with your tag that would be hard to pass up would be 320. Goat rocks or Mt Adams ,bigger bulls and completely different hunt and nothing wrong with that either, like I said personal preference. Good luck and enjoy the hunt and dont let inches get in the way of the experience nwhunter
weve hunted baby shoe pass area of MT Adams, those are good questions, and the dates are something to think of, I am still stuck in my mind on reg archery dates, I think sitting it back a little might be a good idea, more vocal. I am so excited, no we will not let inches get in the way of our time in the woods. Everyday in the woods hunting is a great day in my book!! Since we have only really hunted Adams, packwood winston creek, toutle area, the areas up north or even south are unknowen tous. So trying to listen to what people are telling us. We are not the type of people that think we know it all, thats for sure, so much area, so many oppertunities right now, it is just pure excitement!!!   Oh do I have ELK FEVER BAD!!!!!

Very cool. It should be an awesome time n matter where you go. Its a great opertunity.

Im shocked to hear people suggest the nooksack for 360+ bulls. Ive seen some nice ones there before and some great ones that are long gone but that is not even in my top 5 places I would go with that tag. Im not trying to stir the pot, im just shocked.

I think people are sugguesting the nooksack because there are some good heavy horned bulls in there with little pressure compared to other areas. Not because you will find the next record bull.

Does the raffle tag holder get access keys to timber land? If not the nooksack would be hard to hunt.
No I don't think so. We will get the information in the mail soon!! I would hope so get a special key! but i can't see them doing that! We don't need a record Bull but a record for us. We were laughing at scoring bulls, we have not really thought of it! Any other suggestions or people to call, get ahold of I will do what it takes to help get my hubby a BIG BULL.   and me an adventure of a life time. :) Cant wait!!!

Could be wrong but I don't think it's valid for Kapowsin by itself, at least unless you get a blessing from Hancock.  It's Hancock's own restrictions that limit the elk hunting in there, not the WDFW's.  Technically Mashel is open to general season hunting, but it is Hancock that limits the hunters and amount of bulls to be taken.  If Hancock would be willing to let you hunt there, that'd be the place hands down.

I cannot find that unit or is it a unit? Looked through game management units, where is it located at?

We need some specifics, areas, we looked at Nooksack and White Water they are HUGE areas, where do we start, roads, areas, we are seeking advice,  so wish we had money to pay someone. But God gave us good legs, and big hearts, we will find the right area. As my husband says just let me get lost and i end up with elk. LOL but that is a very scary thing!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR INFORMATION we will take more!!

Hancock is what the private timber co is called, it's in the mashel unit. Their number is 360-879-5312. I would also consider the white river unit, that's where I would be if I couldn't get access to Hancock. I will tell you about the white river, just pm me with your number.

Are you allowed to hunt any of the Watersheds over here on the west side? I would think there might be some pretty good bulls in those.
