In a nutshell, no.

The legislation passed opens the door to the possibility that you will be able to do that soon, but no, you cannot do it right now.  The biggest reason why is one very specific clause in the legislation...

Page 10, line 18 of HB 1632

(d)(i) A person may not operate a wheeled all-terrain vehicle on a
19 public roadway within the boundaries of a city or town, not including
20 nonhighway roads and trails, unless the city or town by ordinance has
21 approved the operation of wheeled all-terrain vehicles on city or town
22 roadways
, not including nonhighway roads and trails.
Sounds like a load of bull to me. Whats the point of even owning an ORV if u cant drive it.
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.

Can this be explained in a nutshell?
For instance, can I ride a quad on DNR roads say in Tahuya state forest?
How bout the FS roads in Little Natches, Rimrock ect?

As long as I have met the registration, inspection criteria?

At Tahuya state forest, YES (stae land, Yes)

Little Nachese or Rimrock, NO National Forest, No> unless designated area)

That's why I sold mine. There are very few places where they are useful for hunting in this state. Oregon and Idaho are the opposite. More areas where they are legal than where they're not. If you really want to spend a lot of time riding an ATV, move to another state. Best advice I can give you.

This is some thing to actually keep an eye on. If the township passes and ordinance to make it ok for ORV use, then we can ride

I would hope that the small townships will start passing some thing to make it legal, that way there are more places to ride.

Could be great for the east side but the west side would probably vote it down  :bash:

gasman,
They can't vote it down. It's signed into law. It's very confusing, so what I'm telling you is what I've been told by our ATV club secretary. Towns with less that 7000 can do one thing and towns with more than 7001 can do something else.

Don't worry, I'm confused still and most likely will remain that way. The Gov signs a law and they don't know how to address the law, sound familiar ?

Oh, ok. I guess towns can direct the access ( roads ) into their specific towns if allowed and have a designated route in their towns. Republic has such laws/rules that avoids the main road because it's State highway 20. You can cross it and that's it from what I know. Is that better ?

Here's what people need to understand, Olympia cannot change the rules for ORV/ATV use on federal lands, which in WA is mainly USFS and some BLM lands. If Olympia made ORV/ATVs legal on every road in the state they would still be illegal on most USFS roads, unless the USFS changed their rules.
