Couldn`t care less about whether Eva gets one, how did teegansdads daughter do?  :dunno:

 :yeah:
:yeah:
I care. She comes from a HIGHLY respected family who has done nothing but good for our hunting heritage. I'm really hoping it comes together for her today.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for the shockey family. But if I were in a tv show and was paying for a guided elk hunt. The said outfitter in this post wouldn't even be my last choice. If your tv show is that cheap to not even pay for a quality hunt. I have no pity for you.
As far as the op, I think you got ripped off. I think you had the best intentions to get your daughter an elk and did what you thought was best at the time.
After reading this thread and other reports of hunts I am really holding back from blasting this outfitter. If i paid for an elk hunt and was put into a blind for five days- elk or not I would be pissed.
:yeah: He looks like even more of a turd than he did when he was getting ripped a few months ago. Why the hell woud somebody that is from a respected hunting family even want to go on a hunt like that? If he thought that was going to help his guide service, looks like it bit him in the arse. Sorry the kid didn't get her elk, but it sounds like she might have a better chance and alot more fun with her dad guiding her!!!!

I have lost respect for the shockeys..

i'm not that hard-nosed.  they likely got caught up in some hype and thought this Barbour fella was legit.  happened to teegansdad, too.  have you lost your respect for him?   :dunno:

i checked barbours facebook and the mention the 7x1 coming in and eva passing on Sept 10th.  Jay Phillips says he saw where she passed on a 7x1 with one side broken.  i dont see that on FB, but am looking

and she did!

"Eva Shockey - They're not quite rutting yet. Should be soon but no bugling so far. Just saw a monster walk through but it only had one side of its rack! So cool!

Shockey is obviously just giving Barbour positive PR for a comped hunt even though they didnt tag out, and Barbour is getting flamed for obvious reasons lol

People said stick to facts.  I know a guy personally that booked a blackrail hunt last year who is from about 2 hours away.  I wanted to help him find a place to stay so I asked where they wanted him to meet. He said Yelm. I told him this guy was gonna take him into Vail and he was paying for something that 2000 other guys were gonna be doing for free.  Sure enough 2 days of driving around in an old truck and shot a dink  2 point. Another booked I know booked a rifle elk hunt. Drove around looking at elk in fields. That guy told them wth I could do this on my own why am I paying tolook at elk we can't shoot? Supposed to be getting a better hunt for free this year.

I met Eva's camera guy at safeway sunday after church and chatted for about 10 minutes about how they were doing and how they got hooked into this hunt.  He said they got called by the outfitter and offered a free hunt for roosevelts. (First off the elk around here are not roosevelts) they may be a hybrid mix but more are not than are. He said he showed us all these pictures. I said every local hunter could show him pictures of elk they have in their areas but we all know that these elk make big loops and have their favorite spots that they frequent but getting all that permission is impossible. You may have permission on a nice 200 acre farm but they could be 2 miles away for 10 days. He looked sad. Oh well they didnt know.

Too bad she didn't just register on here when she decided to hunt in Washington, I bet a few members could have put her on a good bull or two for free. :twocents:
