filled my tag today
« on: October 25, 2008, 05:09:50 PM »
well finaly after a 7 year dry spell i finaly filled my tag. at 8:15 this morning my gf spotted a deer take off from the side of the road. so i jumped out of the truck and stepped up over a little stump and could only see a head looking back at me at about 30yds. i instantly raised my gun and put my scope right between its eyes. i instantly seen the bases of its antlers in my scope and pulled the trigger *click* damn i left the safety on. so i clicked the safety and centered my scope back between his eyes and BAMM!!! i dropped him right in his tracks. so quickly made my way through the little clearcut the extremely long 30yds and found my buck laying right where he stood. as i walked up he was still moving so i put another round into the back of his head and it was a done deal.

i ended up blowing the whole lower jaw off on the first shot (only had a head shot) it was sad cause i really wanted to get a good picture for you guys. but my uncle did take a couple for me so i should get them in the next day or so.

it was a nice little 2pt, not forked to big but it was above the ears. wieghing about 160lb deer. tons of thick fat on him and his neck was FAT

man it feels good to get some meat in the freeze and to finally fill a tag.

can you buy a modern firearm tag, and an archery tag for one season, or do they have to be special permits?

with shots like that, you won't lose any meat.  Sounds like a long pack out as well.  Nice job.
